Entering MK by 5 when MVMCP starts at 6- not attending party

We are going for a quick trip and MVMCP is happening the night we arrive at MK. All we want is a few pics in front of the castle before our fastpasses at 7pm at DHS. Will we have any problems having pics taken by CMs without a party tocket right before 6? We are not trying to stay for any part of this party as we are going later in the season. We need some Christmas pics for cards lol. Just not sure of how the handled late arrivals into MK before parties. Thanks!

I don’t know the answer but if you can’t enter MK have you thought about using the photograph place in DS. They have some great backgrounds.

You’ll have no problem entering the MK if prior to 6pm. Use the tapstyles on the left, the ones on the right are for MVMCP guests.

You can stay and watch the Frozen Holiday Wish castle lighting show at 6:15pm and get castle shots if so inclined. Lots of other day guests (and party guests) will be doing the same thing.

I agree that DHS has some great holiday backgrounds too if you ultimately opt to waive off MK. But I get the appeal of a holiday castle shot for a card!

As long as you enter prior to 6 pm, you can enter on a regular ticket. I would just caution that it will be very crowded and there may be lines to get photopass photos done in front of the castle. I would also suggest scheduling ample time to get to DHS for your FP+. Many people are leaving the park around 6 pm and using WDW transportation. As others have noted, DHS has beautiful decorations this year as do the resorts such as GF and WL. I would suggest considering alternatives if timing is going to be tight for you this evening.

Yes, you can stay. 7pm is the real hard close / "get out" moment. 6pm is park closing and day guests can't ride any rides, but they are generally free to make their way out of the park, finish up shopping, watch the castle lighting show, get final pics, etc. Sort of a softer "make your way out" time.

It's why there are two castle lighting shows on MVMCP nights - one for many day guests who stay to watch, another later in the night for what by that point will be only MVMCP guests.

Just to add to what @GADisneyDad14 the CM start their sweep at 7pm from back of the park to front, so Main Street USA is the last part to be swept of day guests and that happens around 7:20pm. Keep in mind that photopass photographers get huge lines as soon as the castle lights up, so if you want a prime photopass pic get in line even before the 6:15 ceremony starts and you'll be ahead of many people getting their pics
