Enough Already

Everywhere I turn, it seems the the main topic is Terri Schiavo. I understand that the situation is tragic, but I think all this attention and specualtion is just making it worse. I don't know if the feeding tube should be removed because I don't personally know the situation or the people involved, I don't have have all the facts and the misinformation from both sides is being presented as fact by a media that just wants the ratings from what has become the hot story for this month.

Enough already! I am sick to death of it. Let the courts and Terri's husband, family and friends battle to resolve this, but no matter how this comes out, all this bickering and constant media speculation is doing nothing but futher robbing dignity from a woman who can not speak for herself. If I thought it was productive or that there was even a small chance that this circus might result in the best outcome for Terri (whatever that may be), I would think differently, but I don't see that happenning.

We don't know the facts and All this constant bickering is doing is fueling a media who see Terri as a great way to get more ratings. We need to let it alone.

If it were me in her situation I can think of only one thing that I would HATE more than being kept alive... Having my family fight about it and involving the national media.

Just to clarify, my post was directed at my frustration with the whole situation in general. While I admit I would be very happy to never see another thread on the subject here, it would be out of line for me to request that people not post on the subject if they feel inclined to.

Everything happens for a reason. But I agree that this takes even more of Terri's dignity away. I've seen a lot of people comment though on how they will now make sure they have their wishes in writing. So I guess that is a positive. It's too bad we all have to witness this tragedy in order to be motivated.

I agree with all of you! You should have to live here in the area! We not only get all the national stuff but all the local stuff and both newspapers full of it everyday........I am sick of it, and I don't think if Jeb Bush's little prank last year concerning this situation wasn't overturned that Big Brother would have given up part of his vacation to add his 2 cents to the situation!
Then in todays paper, a granddaughter to someone in the HOSPICE home tried to get in last night to see her grandfather before he died was held up through security and metal detectors which caused her not to be with him when he passed. She had been called by one of the nurses, she left her house in her pjs and no identification and there fore had to wait til a nurse confirmed who she was before they let her in.....My mother was in the same home 18 months ago and there wasn't the securtity there then we came and went as we pleased.
No one wins in this situation but I say let the woman go in peace!

I live right down the street from the high school that Terri graduated from - everyday there are news vans all through the neighborhood. Some even set up right across the street like they are waiting for something. For what - I have no clue.

Terri has really gotten lost in all of this. I read through a lot of the official timeline and it's absolutely horrible what she has been subjected to. Let the poor woman rest in peace!

Terri Schiavo has paid the price of her privacy; but her parents brought that on her, and continue to do so. That website they have - now THAT is ghoulish.

For whatever blessing it's worth, Terri Schiavo has absolutely no clue about the martyr to constitutional policy that she has become, so I would stand to say that she's probably doing better from a PR perspective than these women in Kansas whose medically-necessary partial birth abortions are about to become public record, right? How about Matthew Shephard and the cause of gay tolerance, as another example?
