i assumed enhanced housekeeping meant just garbage and towel refresh. i didn't like when i returned to my resort housekeeping touched my toiletries in the bathroom and placed a light weight cloth under all of my items on the sink counter. meaning they touched my toothbrush and private ladies products, etc. that i keep out on the sink counter. I wasn't pleased someone touched my things and was surprised. i didn't give the resort feedback on it but just thought my dis friends may find this helpful when choosing housekeeping.

To be fair to Disney it is included in the description.

But I see your point that Guests could still be unaware.

During Your Stay
Your room will receive light housekeeping service every other day (unless you choose to decline the service). This service will include:

  • Removal of trash and used towels
  • Replenishment of towels and amenities throughout room and bathroom
  • Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
  • Vacuuming, if needed

I actually found it so odd during a mid-June stay that they couldn’t make our beds, but they touched and moved our toothbrushes. Made me realize this has little to do with COVID and more to do with staffing. I wasn’t terribly happy about them touching my toothbrush either. I now place it in a cup on the sink counter in hopes if they touch anything it’s the cup.

thank you for posting this. if i had read this i actually still would not have thought they would touch my toothbrush! i just would have assumed they did a work-around

I've always at any hotel put my personal stuff back in my cosmetic bag, just so they aren't touching it.
This. When staying somewhere with housekeeping, I always put away anything I wanted to keep secure. I've actually enjoyed the ability to decline housekeeping on my recent hotel stays, so I didn't have to clean up the room each morning.

Even in places without daily housekeeping, I've walked by housekeepers in the halls frequently enough to ask for towels or paper goods as needed and to drop off trash if my bins were full.

Before COVID, I stayed at a non-Disney hotel and housekeeping picked up all my toiletries from the bathroom counter, set a towel on the counter, and put my toiletries on the towel. I assumed that meant less work for housekeeping on future days. I started doing it myself at hotels.

I use a cosmetic bag as well.

I did hear of a toothbrush "hack" recently where you could use one of the paper coffee cups you have in your room, poke a hole in the bottom of it, turn it upside down, and use it as a holder to stand your toothbrush up in. That way it dries properly. In this case, housekeeping would be touching the cup to move it rather than the toothbrush.

But I'm more like your sister; all of my counter stuff goes back into the cosmetic bag.

I always bring extra 12 oz coffee cups. (Sturdy disposable ones.) Most we use for coffee, but two are for our toothbrushes. It's a handy way to keep the sink area tidy.

Yep, I've been doing this for years. I have a hanging toiletry bag that I just hang on the door knob or hook on the door or hanging mirror or where ever and never actually unpack it. I use my stuff out of it and put it back. The only exception is the shampoo and conditioner, I will leave that in the tub. My comb, brush, tooth brush, travel water pick, deodorant, medicine, you name it just goes back in it when I'm done. After I brush my teeth I put my tooth brush on a rag on the counter to dry while I'm doing other things and just put it back in the bag. I started doing this when we started staying on dive live aboards where there is no counter space. The bag stays packed even after I get home. If I know I used up whatever, I replace it before the next trip. I keep a shelf in the closet that is only travel items so I replace from that. Less clutter now.

For OP, what did you do when there used to be full housekeeping? They most likely touched your toothbrush then unless you put it in a glass.
