Hi. Does anyone know of any English bulldog breeders, or how is a good way to locate an English bulldog breeder, in or around NY state. I would be willing to drive as far as 10 hours or so.

Thanks!

Have you looked at the Bulldog Club of America web site? They are wonderful. We adopted our dear Buddy from Bulldog rescue at the Bulldog Club site. :):)

Oh I do I do!!!
We had an English Bulldog for 14 years! Harry was the love of my life(sorry dh) we got him from Florida and I they no longer breed.

After he died we were debating getting another one(didn't want to replace him) but I researched like crazy.

This guy is great. He's in NJ and was very helpful when we were going to get another English. We just love Bruce on there now.

I have a feeling I'll be adding an English back into our lives soon. We currently have a Lab and a French Bulldog(smaller lighter lap dog version of the English)

Hi. We have an 11 year old bulldog. (who we love more than anything else in the whole world!!)

We got him at a breeder in Charlton, Massachusetts called "puppies galore". They were an excellent breeder who specialize in bulldogs and another breed. Our little guy has been very healthy and was cleary well breed.

Good luck. You will LOVE a bulldog!!!!

I knew better than to look. I get puppy fever so bad! These little pups are absolutely adorable.

OK_I Googled Puppies Galore. Sorry folks-when a "breeder" offers tons of DIFFERENT Puppies-ITS A PUPPY MILL!!!!:sad2:

A quality breeder specializes in ONE breed. and has REGISTERED Dogs. And if you have a really good breeder, many of the Moms and Pops are show quality & they have the ribbons and trophies to show you.

Start here-with the American Kennel Club

I would have to definitely agree with you. They also sell "designer dogs", AKA "mutts". Not dissing mixed breeds, just don't purposely breed them, there are plenty out there that "do it" on their own. And they are selling these mixed breeds for close to $1000:scared1:!!!

Also, I see you can place deposits on puppies that haven't arrived at the kennel yet. So where are they:confused:??? Not a good sign.

Have you considered adopting? I know some people really want a puppy and I understand, but I volunteer with a bulldog rescue group in NJ and there are so many bullies in need of good homes, I just thought I would make you aware. Our bully now, Hooch, is a rescue, but our first bully, Winnie, we got as a puppy, before we knew much about the breed. Bullies are a high maintenance group with a lot of medical issues, but so loveable. Here is a forum I am very active on that is made up people who are just in love with their bullies, lots of people in rescue and breeders too.

PM me any time for any info you want about the breed. I live and breathe bulldogs!

I would go to a local dog show and talk to the bulldog breeders there. Meet their dogs, ask who is expecting a litter/planning a breeding (many pups will be spoken for before their parents even meet). You will be taking a dog into your home as a member of your family for the next decade or more -- you want somebody you feel comfortable with who can help you out with any issues that arise for the entire life of the dog.

Depending where in New York you are, there may be different show superintendants. www.infodog.com is the website for Moss-Bow. Jim Rau and Onofrio are other superintendants who may run shows in the area.

Their websites should list upcoming shows by state and date, and when it comes close to show day, the infodog site (and possibly the others) will post the judging schedule, which will tell you the time and ring in which the bulldogs are being shown, so you are sure not to miss them.

Be sure to read up about health issues affecting the breed, and ask about health testing. If anybody tells you their dogs are "vet checked" or "we don't have those issues," run away. Serious breeders have no problem telling you what their line's specific issues are, and how they are working to eradicate them. And they will have more questions for YOU than you have for them.

Just be sure when you're ringside that you first approach people sitting and watching, not the handlers with dogs, since they are concentrating on what they need to do (even if it appears they're just hanging out and socializing). The people ringside will be able to point out the people you want to speak to after judging is over, and even make the introductions for you. They themselves may have puppies or know people who are.

Hi. I emailed most of the breeders listed by the BCA in the surrounding states and will wait to hopefully hear back from someone. A couple of different breeder websites I had been looking at were actually listed on the BCA website as frauds and to beware of them. :scared1: It's a good thing you all referred me to that site, thanks!

luvwinnie, I have checked out that forum and have added it to my favorites. There are so many cute bullies and funny stories on there, thank you. :goodvibes

The puppies on the puppychase site are soooo cute. We are trying to keep the purchase to $3000 and in a state that is driveable for us, but they are sure cute to look at. :upsidedow Who knows, we may reconsider later on, the puppies look great and the breeders sound very knowledgable and caring.

The ultimatebulldogs is an option for us and I might contact the breeder this week. We were planning on a girl, and they have all boys right now but we are thinking about it. They are also sooo cute. :)

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and comments!!!

I am really, really hoping to find a puppy within a few weeks. DH leaves for Afghanistan in a month, and our beloved lab who passed away this summer was a huge comfort to me while he was in Iraq. He will be gone for a year, and I know I will be much calmer and happier with an adorable English bulldog to keep me company and keep me busy.

Update - I found a few breeders listed on the BKA website with puppies and we are going to see one on Sunday!!! I think we have found our new puppy.

*UPDATE*

We found our puppy through the Bulldog Club of America's listing of breeders in our area. :) We went to visit her around Christmas, but she was still too little to come home. She is cute as can be! The breeder is great and it was nice to be able to see the puppy's parents and siblings. Her happy homecoming is scheduled for next Sunday.:banana::banana:

I also joined the bulldog forum recommended by luvwinnie, it's full of great information and bully lovers. :goodvibes

I'll try and post some puppy pictures when she comes home!!!

Thanks again for the advice, it really paid off!!!!!!!!!!!!

I JUST came across your thread here...we have a bully-our 2nd one. The first was an AMAZING dog but he did come from a puppy mill in Iowa-such problems we tried contacting them as our vet here could not treat him b/c he didn't know everything & wanted to send him to Cornell-the dog would have a heat stroke everytime he went in the car-only lived 28 months:sad1: My husband found another & I didn't want one so soon-he's not the same but we LOVE him. Wilson will be 6 & we are seeing the signs of old age in him. He has a few issues but nothing like our Oscar. May I ask, we too are from NY could you let me know where you found a reputable breeder? (The one we got Wilson from moved away) Thanks & please post some pics when you get your baby!!!! :goodvibes

Hi. I went on the Bulldog Club of America's breeders list for the tri-state area and emailed every breeder on the list, lol. I asked if they had puppies now or were expecting them in the near future, and if not if they knew any other good breeders who did.

I got five replies in NJ, CT, and Pennsylvania. Maybe one was in Long Island sometime in the spring. The breeder we went with is in CT because of our personal preferences with their dogs. The breeder in NJ that we liked is having puppies this week. If you are interested I will give you her contact info.

The puppies are not inexpensive, they ranged from $3000 out in Pennsylvania to $4000 (ours). But since you have already purchased bullies I'm sure that's not a surprise to you. It was a little to me and certainly dh, lol.

I will definitely post some pics after Daisy comes home!
