I'll admit (proudly) that I am an AMERICAN (no hyphen crap either) first and foremost. I'm a global citizen second. So yes, I'm primarily concerned what happens in America before anywhere else. But feel free to translate that into "screw everyone else". It's simply not true. If you feel you're better off doing the opposite, knock yourself out. But don't be surprised if or denigrate others that feel differently.

I feel just fine about that (disclaimer: I am of hispanic descent). However, I would feel fine about it regardless of the "race" (after all I am all ready in the minority ). 1. Read the posts - it may not be primarily concerned with America but she's very very very concerned about the number of people following each religion and the impact this will have for western nations.

Right - so WHAT does this have to do with the number of Muslims living in the UK (or any other area of the Western World)?

Personally I disagree with a huge number of these, but that's irrelevant for the point we're discussing. Explain to me how ANY of these are applicable to Muslim immigrants legally living in the UK.

I don't know why you would even imagine that it is an attack on the UK. That baffles me. This is absolute support of the UK, the culture, the roots of our own country and the friendship that has prevailed since the end of the Revolutionary War.

None of the points you made have anything to do with imported culture, they have to do with addressing a regime that some people do not like at it's source.

I absolutely see myself as an American although in our family we decend from the English, Irish, Dutch, French, Swedish and Italian and not necessarily in that order. For myself, I probably should put French first.
By doing what's best for America, we do what is best for the world. We are not the "problem", we are the solution.

The problem with that is EVERY nation feels that way!! Iran feels like when they do what is best for Iran, they do what is best for the world, China feels like when they do what is best for China, that's what is best for the world and so on....sure, the individual people probably don't all feel that way-but nation-state conciousness is very ego-centric.

There are times when we do all have to play nice and get along and sometimes that means that we can't do exactly what we want. Wise leaders of nation-states will know how to "pick their battles".

We had a TON of international support for the USA when we were focusing our attention on going after terrorists, because other nations could see that as a benefit to all. It was only when we started going after something that wasn't in everyone's interest, only our own, that we lost support.

Actually, the time line is probably closer to 60 years...perhaps less. And if you took note of the first suggestion; "support women's rights in Islamic countries and abroad". Just because it is their "cultural difference" to suppress women, deny them an education, circumsize them, arrange marriages for them, and make them the victims of honor killings, doesn't mean that is a worthy aspect of the culture to maintain. When Great Britain occupied India, General Sir Charles Napier (he's one of your guys, ) was impeccably multicultural. It was Indian tradition, Suttee, to burn widows on the funeral pyres of their husbands. He said; " You say it is your custom to burn widows.Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours".
