I'm not sure if this is the right board for this question, but I figured you may have the most experience with these things.

I am trying to keep this nondescript to keep her away from this post.

Let's say my girlfriend likes a certain Disney character and that character is part of a ride in Magic Kingdom. What are the chances that I could get a CM to escort us to the front of the line and get us our own car? The ride holds more than two but not more than six. Then have a photopass person waiting at the end of the ride to take a picture after I pop the question.

Would I have to set this up beforehand or could I arrange it when we enter the park? The problem is that I'm not sure when we would be at the park, based on flights, check-ins, etc. What about before official opening? Maybe have the character on hand at the ride to greet us?

The most important thing that concerns me is a CM blowing the secret.

I would go to guest services first and foremost. Ask them if there's a way they can help you out and arrange for something like this. They should be more than receptive and willing. Are you going to be able to get away from your sweetie long enough to make this arrangement?? Otherwise I would "wing" it and follow lurkyloo's plan. Even then though, you run the risk of you soon to be fiance becoming curious about all your side convos with cms, know what I mean?? (vern <--- sorry, i thought it and i had to type it.)

This isn't going to be anything that Guest Services can do ahead of time. It's possible that you "may" be able to get a single ride vehicle (think Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, Magic Carpets) without asking to be put to the front of the line, if it's a very busy time peroid then your chances aren't so good.. As for a Photopass photographer, you'd have to ask if they would be able to leave their assigned area to accompany you and wait while you are on the ride.

May I ask who the favorite character is?

If they are a character you can find around the park you might want to consider doing that. For example if it's Pluto you can usually find him in Mickey's Toontown with a Photopass Photographer all ready there. You can let them know ahead of time and then maybe pop the question while you are having your "photo" taken with the character. That way it's a surprise, the photographer will all ready know and be there and her favorite character would be in the photo too.

(there were plent of times we did extra, special things in both entertainment and in ops.)Especially with the dream team out and about. If you see the cast members in the blue shirts and dream team vests, they for sure would be able to make it happen. It always good to remember too that guest services is more willing to help out those that are kind and friendly and polite than those who are demanding, mean or rude.

I agree here...GS can be very helpful. Definately ask..and be sincere and polite..they will probably try to help in any and every way possible. I've seen someone on here do something like this..it seemed almost impossible to plan out..but Guest Services really helped them out. Best of luck! And send her this way when you do pop the "?"!

I'm thinking pretty simple. Maybe I could speak with guest services ahead of time and tell them about when I'll be at the park. It's looking like I can head right from the airport to Magic Kingdom, skipping check in, and get there 1/2 hour to an hour before park close. I want to start the trip off right, plus I don't think I could handle keeping it secret. Or get up for park opening the first day.

Really all I want is to get a CM to escort us from guest services to the ride, and then put us in our own car, no photopass person, no character. The CM can kind of ham up a VIP type thing, like "hello, Mr <blank>, let me take care of that for you". She will have no idea if all I have to do is stop in guest services and tell them I'm here.

Anyone know if that sounds good, or how I could speak to guest services ahead of time? I wouldn't even know where to start.

I 100% agree with going to guest services as soon as you get there. There is no guarantee they can do exactly what you want, bt they will help you do something special. My advice is if you are going more than one day to the park, don't do it on the first day. I got engaged in Disneyland and it was magical! But my husband was so nervous that he basically did it as soon as we got in the park (we rode the sun wheel in DCA and he proposed right as the Christmas lights came on when we were at the top). It was very sweet, and I was thrilled..but I had a feeling it was coming And if she loves Disney...she probably knows too.

I think this would be a pretty amazing proposal, I don't think Disney would do it because then everyone would probably want to do it...but hey it's still the year of a million dreams...

Plant your girlfriend along the parade route and then say you want to go get ice cream or something and for her to save your seats. (Talk to guest services in advance) and then right when the parade starts (when they send people down the parade route to entertain people until it starts and make sure people aren't in the path) maybe they could have you and a character walk down the route and pretend to be looking for Cinderella...but then you can find your "princess" and propose.

Okay that might be a little far fetched. This might be cute- Take a picture of yourself down on one knee proposing (or have the photopass person do it). Then make sure you take lots of pictures throughout the day so that you have to go "buy" one at the end of the day. Have them pre-print the one of you down on one knee and go with your girlfriend to pick it up. Take her out onto main street and have her check it to make sure they printed it right and when she opens it up you can get down on one knee and pop the question!

But really, I'm sure she'll be happy no matter what. It might be a good idea to set up a reservation for a special dinner or dessert after she says YES! GOOD LUCK!
