Engagement at WDW, if any one had ideas, please let me know!!

I am planning on asking my GF to marry me on our next disney trip. It is coming up fast. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about good places to do this? Also if anyone has done this and can give me some pointers or advice on the place to propose. I really apreciate your help!

I think if you proposed after seeing Wishes and knelt down and said something like "My Wish is for you to marry me" that would be romantic and sweet. If you wanted to get fancy, you could have dinner at California Grill and watch Wishes from the balcony and propose there...after the show you would have some privacy because most people go back inside right after the fireworks. Or if you wanted to get REALLY fancy, you could rent one of the Wishes boats and have your own private cruise.

First of all, as a girl, I think WDW would be the greatest place to be proposed to. My first thought would be to do it during a fireworks display - (I would imagine that it would make the ring really sparkle, if you're using one). But if you're staying someplace really special, it might make sense to use someplace at the resort - most of the resorts have really great "hide-aways". Of course, the classical way would be to do it over a special dinner, but I'm personally not all that into the traditional, predictable ways. Another idea would be during your GF's favorite ride, depending on the ride. I'm sure I could come up with more, but it's just going to start making me jealous. I guess the best advice would be to think about what your GF would consider the greatest proposal. There are all kinds of great spots in WDW (Cinderella's Wishing Well, Belle's Rose Garden, Tom Sawyer's Island). If you're willing to take the risk, you might just want to be spontaneous and wait until the moment feels right.

While on our last trip to WDW(a couple of weeks ago) we were riding the Dumbo Ride while the fireworks were exploding infront and behind us. It truely felt like we were inside the fireworks. One of our most magical moments ever! Another cool place during the fireworks is the viewing area from BTMR. A very pretty and romantic spot is the hill area overlooking the beach/lagoon at the Poly. I have seen some very pretty sunset weddings there. Have a wonderful trip!

2 weeks ago, a couple standing next to us at MK during Wishes got engaged. I didn't hear what he said, but it was very sweet. Do your GF have a favorite park? If so, I'd try to plan it around there. There are plenty of "quiet" spots around the parks, and some very romantic fireworks shows (Illuminations, Wishes, ect.) every night. And the resorts also have great quiet spots. Expecially the Poly, since the beach is right there. You could take her to dinner at one of the nice restaurants there, then go outside to watch Wishes. The beach is usually empty, depending on when you are going, and you can have a special moment together.

ok....some DON'Ts..
1. Don't make it April Fools Day
2. Don't find a dark corner at Pleasure Island
3. Don't have a nice conversation..... about the Florida weather!
4. Don't look at her... while playing with a Diamond ring... waiting for her to notice it is there!
and 5...... Don't NOT ask her to marry you when she notices the ring and hyperventilates for an hour!

..... We still laugh at that.... yes, that is the way that my DH of almost 14 yrs "Sort of" proposed. He still says he never really asked me to marry him.

I thought it was an April Fools Joke and didnt think the ring was REAL!

Also, if she has a fave character or movie, definitely incorporate that. Personally, I'm a sucker for Beauty & the Beast, so getting engaged in "France" or something along those lines would be perfect to me.

I am not speaking from experience, but, how about in MK after wishes is over,kill some time for about 20 min while the crowd files out, then take a leisurely stroll up to the entrance to the castle, perhaps to the stage were the shows are preformed and pop the question. You should almost be by yourself, music still playing in the backround, and the castle in color.

What would be great is if you can arrange something special with guest relations like champaigne waiting, a Disney photograher for a picture after wards, maybe a late night final ride, dinner for two in the rose garden under the stars etc.

And hope she says yes! lol

The first time we went to see the Hoop De Doo a couple got engaged on stage during the show. When they picked the four volunteers to be in the show, the girl they brought up was the girl who got proposed to. Being in the audience, we didn't know that this was planned out--but the performers obviously were in on this. They took her backstage with the other three audience members picked to tell them what to do when they came out on stage. When it was the girl's turn to come out on stage, her boyfriend was on stage with the performers and he ended up proposing to her right there during the show. The girl was really suprised and it was very cute. The people in the audience went wild and the performers made it memorable, as well. Every time I go to that show, I remember how fun that night was and how suprised we were that that happened.

My (now) husband proposed on one of the benches in the Magic Kingdom. (Head up Main St toward the castle, hang a right into the Rose Garden area once you pass the popcorn vendor. It's the first bench you get to. )

It was September so it was fairly deserted in the MK, and we had a nice quiet, private moment - just us and some ducks. Now every time we go back, we recreate the same picture we took on the bench, with the castle as the background. So, nostalgic rambling aside, that's my suggestion: Make it somewhere you can revist each time you go. It's very nice to have 'our bench' in my favorite place in the world.

Ahhh!!! I think this is really sweet! One word of advice, propose early on in your visit, otherwise, you will be all nervous and stressed out beforehand and your GF might wonder what's wrong? When my DH proposed, he had the whole day planned with the proposal planned for after we came back from dinner. He ended up proposing before dinner and it was perfect. We both really enjoyed dinner and the rest of the evening.

Sorry if this is redundant but I didn't see your other post. While we were dining at the Castle on the first night of our trip, a young man at the next table had the waiter bring out the ring with their dessert and the young man got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was very touching and made for a very special moment for all of us. I even teared up a bit. Ah, but then I tear up at the Disney commercials so I guess I'm just a weeper.

How about Cinderella's Royal Table. I think that is where they have the chocolate slippers you could put the ring on that. They can also make a cake if you call ahead I believe. Good Luck!

What a great question!! Let's see... how would I want to be proposed to? Restaurant proposals freak me out because I definitely don't want my engagement ring embedded in some sort of food! I'd stick with something quiet and private...and beautiful. Perhaps taking a Wishes or Illuminations cruise and proposing after the show, proposing to her on the beach at the Poly during sunset, proposing while being the "flag family" at Wilderness Lodge (what a view!), or just proposing at one of her favorite places (I'd love to be proposed to in Epcot because I love that park so much).

Also, if none of the suggestions you get here inspire you, why not give Disney Weddings a call and ask them about their favorite proposals. You don't have to pay for suggestions over the phone, after all, and they might be very helpful as far as logistics!!
