ok all, you have been so helpful, and i have another question. i am getting engaged during my trip to disney world next week. couldnt get a wishes speciality cruise for the day i wanted, so i had to go to plan B. originally, i booked the POLY luau for our first night. was gonna do the luau, then walk on the beach at POLY and propose. however, i am not loving that idea anymore because a) the luau is over at 10pm and that will be late for us (after a long day of travel), b) there is no wishes or water parade at that hour.

so...

i made a 750pm PS as citricos at the grand floridian. sounds like a real nice place.

my question is, where would be the best place to propose at GF? should i do it during dinner at citricos during wishes or should we eat dinner, then go walk outside around the GF to see WISHES and propose then??? or should i just stick with the LUAU?

just looking for some ideas/opinions from the experts!!! thanks again.

I would do it at GF. You might call either the GF or the restaurant directly to see if they have any ideas for you. I think they have a gazebo there where they hold weddings. If they don't have anything booked, you could walk over there. I like the idea of proposing during Wishes, but I don't know what the view of Wishes is like from the GF. Another possibility would be to eat at another Poly restaurant and get to the beach in time for the fireworks.

I know other people have paid for special things for their proposal, like some kind of dessert in a glass slipper that you could put the ring in.

Congrats!

Would your intended be likely to enjoy the attention you'd get by proposing in a restaurant or would something more private be appropriate? I'd decide based on her personality. Some women like the public acknowledgement and some want it to be purely between the two of you........to start with, anyway!

To me, a proposal on the beach while watching Wishes is about as romantic as it gets, but I'm a more private person. Of all the Wishes in the world your one wish is that she be your wife. Then, after the private asking, you can tell everyone you meet that she's agreed and made you the Happiest Man in the World!

Woo HOO! I proposed to my wife at the GF 3 years ago. I did it at Victoria and Alberts. They told me they average about 5-6 proposals a week. I imagine there is a similar story with Citrico's. At V&A they took the ring and locked it in a safe they had for this purpose then, they brought it out on a silver platter covered in rose pettles during dessert. It was wonderful and we still talk about it today. People will be watching though so, like someone said, that has to be considered. Good luck!

Re: dinner - I would definitely prefer Citricos to the Poly luau - or any other restaurant at the Poly. Citricos is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful food. I feel it is an underrated gem at WDW. Citricos would be my personal choice for an engagement or pre-engagement meal. Although I haven't been to Victoria and Albert's - I've been to most other upscale restaurants at WDW.

At Citricos try asking for a window seat in the farthest corner, overlooking the marina - the castle is off in the background. Maybe you could plan this ahead of time if you tell them it's for a proposal. The front of the restaurant is a bit brighter and less private. Also, you can't see the castle from the front tables at Citricos.

Re: the actual proposal. I agree with the other posters, is your fiancee one who would appreciate the ring with the dessert and other diners involved in the actual proposal? Or is she more private? If she is private, I'd have dinner at Citricos and then walk over on the Poly beach and find a private spot there to propose.

If you aren't sure what she'd like, ask a close friend or relative of hers that you trust. I think alot of guys like the "wow" factor and attention of proposing in public - but personally I would prefer the private proposal. It would be good to find out her preferences, not just base it on your own preference.

Best wishes! :)

wow thanks all for your input!!! i agree with you all so far, i need to figure out what her personality would prefer. i am thinking that it would be a more private event, and am leaning toward that at the moment. now i just have to try to figure out how to get this beautiful ring through airport security!!! ahhhhhhhhhh.

thanks again for all your magical help.
