Endoscopy Results - I'm Puzzled

Went for my endoscopy yesterday. They found a small erosion on my larynx. They're sending me to an ENT.

Anyone know what this "erosion" could be? I'm not exactly paranoid, but I'm a little nervous. The doc didn't give me any indication - only the "that's why I'm referring you to an ENT" line.

When's your appt. with the ENT? Make it soon, and don't worry until you go there.

I would think they might consider Barrett's Esophagus if the erosion is from acid reflux.... Usually they would refer you to a gastroenterologist though, so that is puzzling... Oh, they could also do a scraping to send off for pathology if they thought the erosion looked odd.....

I used to get blisters on my vocal chord...I would think a small erosion would be an infection(like a cut not healing) and an ENT will monitor it, treat it, and have the larnyx heal it's self. Good Luck.

Thanks everyone. Thankfully, my ENT appointment is next week so I don't have to wait forever.

But on the lighter side, maybe this erosion is a good excuse for why I sing so bad.

I would think reflux too, but strange to send you to an ENT. Puzzling. What have been your symptoms that warranted the endoscopy?

I must have an erosion, too! A really really BIG one.

You could have the "LPR" form of reflux where it only affects the throat/larynx. A gastro would send you to an ENT for this as ENTs are the "treaters" of LPR.

I am over due to set my appointment for one of these tests, too.
I'd say ENT is a good sign. They would have sent to you an oncologist if it was something really scary, right?

So, the quote "sing like nobody is listening" doesnt count for you, huh?
