Endometrial ablation(novasure)??? Anybody???

I have a co-worker who had one 5 years ago and she is so happy she had it done. She was back to work the day after, and indicated she had only mild cramping the day of her surgery. He often skips her periods now, and when she does have one, it lasts only about a day, is super light and she does not have cramps or other problems.

I am thinking about getting one in a few years. I am peri-menopausal and was dealing with such horrible sysmptoms relating to my periods, I finally went back on birth control pills. They have worked great but once I hit menopause, my OB states I need to come off of birth control, and I figure a uterine ablation will be a good option at that point.

Piece of cake!! Had mine in Oct '09 and have had absolutely no bleeding since.:cool1: I had very mild cramping--not really enough to mention--and there is a weird watery discharge for about 10 days after which is normal for the procedure, but nothing a panty liner can't handle. Good luck!

OP: How did this go for you?
I was just told that I'm a good candidate for this. So, I've been doing some research.

had mine done over 6 years ago in hospital out-patient under general....felt great the next day and never had another period again....:thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2

I'm on day ten since the procedure and i feel great. Best part, i think i had a period yesterday. cramps, a little spotting and that's all she wrote. I think it was a success.

I'm 38.

Just called insurance....they cover it! YEA!!
Now to call the doc back and start the ball rolling.....

For those that have had this, were you able to drive after the procedure?

Did you have any PMS?
I read in the pamphlet that this procedure may help PMS.

I had one done about 8 years ago. Lots of problems BEFORE and no problems afterward at all. I had a difficult time coming out of anesthesia but I always have a difficult time coming out of anesthesia. I didn't have any problems with cramping and any pain after.

I had mine almost two years ago and sorry to say that mine did not go well. I woke from the procedure to get dressed to go home and blood was running down my legs onto the floor. The nurse said not to panic that it does happen. I was sick with dry heaves all the way home and it took about two weeks for the bleeding to stop. Six weeks after the procedure, I had a period and have had one ever since. The doctor was surprised and said that he could try again. Uhh, no thanks. But on a positive note, everyone that I know who has had the procedure have had great results. I guess I'm just the oddball:confused3

I had mine in January 2009. Best thing I ever did!!! Haven't had a period since and the recovery was a breeze.

I have same exact problem and question

Had one done outpatient about 15 years ago- best thing ever, haven’t had to deal with a period since!

The ablation stops your periods (though you may still have light periods or spotting) but not the hormones. You stop bleeding because the endometrial layer that normally builds up and sheds each month isn’t there anymore. Because you still have the hormones you can still experience pms and cramping.
Before my ablation and d&c I had heavy periods with clots and painful cramps. I had my ablation years ago and still experienced pms, light cramping, and monthly spotting for the first year or so. The pms and cramping became occasional after that and I only spotted once every three of four months. All of it went away after about 6 years.
It does get better. 😊

This is a zombie thread but it’s still a great topic that can help women. My ablation was 4 years ago. I am not one of the lucky women who stopped having periods although they are much lighter now and I can live my life normally. Before the ablation I was miserable and my life revolved around my period.
My PMS is 10x worse since the ablation. I have no regrets because I don’t need to get weekly iron infusions every week anymore.

Didn't work for me - ended up having a hysterectomy which was brilliant!

Had mine 20+ years ago - no regrets
