The Cast...
DH-Closet Disney Freak...blames all our trips on me when he's just as bad
DSs- 9 (Cam) and 6 (Colt)-WDW & DL vets, not very adventurous and can be difficult at times
DM(Mother)- The one I got the "Disney gene" from She loves to come along on our trips since we can't get DF(Father) to go anymore, and she is a great help with the kids
DN(neice) 13- This was her 4th trip and we were so happy so could come along with us this time. Shes more daring than DS, but still a bit cautious.
And me....well, lets just say I love all things Disney and during this trip Cam referred to me as "Freaky Disney Person".
Sunday 8/27
After a 23+ hour ride from MA, we arrived at Pop Century about 9:45 am. DH got in line to check in while I stayed in the lobby with DSs & DN and we checked out the memorabilia in the lobby.
Check in was quick and efficient. While we had requested rooms in the 70s building, in order to get connecting rooms (with DM who was arriving later and DN) we got the 90s building. Our room was not ready yet and it was still too early for lunch so we took some time to walk around the resort and check out all the buildings. Of course we had to throw in a few games of Twister too.
Too kill more time we all changed to our bathing suits as we were going to be going swimming after lunch, but we didnt want to get all wet right before going in to eat, plus we were hungry and wanted to eat ASAP.
We had seen a sign at one of the Food Court stands that said to check back at 11:30, but about 11:15 we went to the food court and found most stands to be serving lunch. It was now we began using the dining plan and began pigging out for the week.
After lunch we were going to head to the pool but we saw Mousekeeping was out of our room so we called to check if it was ready and it was. In the mean time we got a call from DM, riding on the Magical Express on her way. We brought in our luggage and began unpacking until she arrived. She went to check in and we finally made it in the Hippy Dippy pool.
After a couple hours spent there relaxing we returned to our rooms to get ready for dinner. About 4:30 we left for DTD where we had 5:15 ADRs for Wolfgang Pucks Café. (Dining Reviews are on the Dining Review Board)
Here's the crew at the nice window seat table we got. They knew enough to put us in the corner.
It had started raining right as we got in the restaurant, but then stopped by the time dinner was over. It was perfect.
After dinner we took a walk back to the Market Place by going through PI. After a bit of walking around we decided to hop a bus to the Boardwalk/Beach Club. My Mother and I had visited Marthas Vineyard Lounge while we were there last year and wanted to return to have another Oreo Mintini, a drink we have only seen there. Plus I had been telling DH he needed to try this. So, we arrived at the Boardwalkd and walked to the Beach Club. We need these walks after that meal. The kids played some games in the arcade and the adults had a quick drink.
After our drink we walked to the bus stop and got to see an obstructed showing of Illuminations. We were taking a bus to DTD to make the change and while riding the driver gave us the whole spiel of where to pick up to the bus to return to the BC. DH joked, but what if we are going to Pop Century?. The only other people on the bus, a couple, laughed and said they were going there too. Our drive made a call and then announced she could drive us directly to PC. We were home about 2 minutes later. What a great sprinkling of pixie dust that was!!!
We now had to rest up for a busy week of park touring ahead of us.
