End of the year Teacher Gift ideas?

This year, my daughter has two main teachers and six other teachers for things like art, music, gym, etc. For the two main ones, I put together beach totes with a beach towel, white visor decorated with fabric markers by my daughter, plastic insulated cup that is monogrammed with single serve packets in it, and flip flops with boa clips.

For the other six teachers, we did the monogrammed plastic insulated cups with the single serve drink mixes in them. We printed off little flags that go on the straws. Found the idea here.... http://www.chocolatecakemoments.com...easy-and-inexpensive-diy-teachers-gift-ideas/

As a teacher...anything at all is appreciated. Gift cards (especially entertainment or food), office supplies, and food are always good choices.

My favorite "gifts" though have been notes of appreciation from the student, those are the things that help me to remember why I teach in the first place. It's not for the money or the stuff, it's for the impact on a young person's life, so when they share that, it makes it all worthwhile.

Cjnix, I wouldn't give a gift. I'm sorry your child has had a wretched year. I doubt telling her or anyone else would do any good, although talking with the school counselor might be of benefit. I hope he has an awesome teacher next year. They make the world of difference.

or letting the principal know. Our principal does observations throughout the year, but everyone knows the teachers are on their best behavior. I don't know how some teachers keep their jobs when there are so many teachers who would kill to have a job. We have one at our school who is not nice nor is she a good teacher!!

Well said! :thumbsup2 I would give you a gift card if you were my child's teacher!

For my 3rd grader I am thinking of something to say on a gas gift card tag.( maybe..... Thanks for knowledge fill ups!) Still working on that one.

For the 1st grade teacher, hmmm I am thinking maybe a restaurant gift card. The local breakfast place is one of her favorites and you can get a nice breakfast there for 2 for $25. The problem is the aid in that class. She really is a co-teacher. So I need to get her something as well.

And both boys will be writing thank you letters to the teacher to go along with the gift.

If there is a co-teacher, I duplicate the gift. So many parents often forget the 2nd teacher. For the times that I have done this, their thank you card was the first received.

My 4yo is in an integrated preschool class, so he has his "teacher" the ABA therapist that works with him, the SLP that works with him and two other ABA therapists that work with other kids in his class (but give him attention too!). That is a lot of people to buy for, so I appreciate the idea. His teacher went on maternity leave this year after having her fourth son in as many years, so I'm thinking a restaurant GC may go unused. I gave her a Target one at Christmas. I'm thinking of one from a small chain around hear called The Learning Store - but how much and should I get one for all of them?

Maybe The Learning Store for the teacher and Starbucks for the others? I don't want to spend a small fortune!

I also have this...my son is in ESE and has many teachers and aids. For teacher appreciation week I went to the Publix Deli and had them put together a platter of choc. covered strawberries and petit fours, it was around $30 and there were LOTS. They very much appreciated it :)

End of the year is going to be a little more challenging. He has had the same teacher for 4 years now and will be moving up to intermediate school so its a BIG goodbye. I really love her and want to do something nice. I like the beach idea, we live close to the beach and I know she likes to go. Her husband is sick, so I will also probably try to throw in something they can do together.

I made these for the teachers this year. Both teachers had baby girls this year too so I figured if they don't use it for school they could use them as activity bags for their kids. I included pencils, pens, and dry erase markers. I like the idea of having the slots for everything on the outside, no more lost pens or pencils!

As a Pre-K teacher, and often a family's first experience in elementary school, many parents really want to do something nice --so they get a mug, candy, tote bag, picture frame, teachery gift (with apples or pencils on it), tea/coffee, lotions, body wash, note pads/pens, etc. not realizing or thinking about how many of these items a teacher gets in her career.

Not to be harsh, because the sentiment is very appreciated and I let my parents know so, but all of these items get donated. I don't drink coffee or tea, and like anyone else, I have my favorite lotions/body wash that I use. I have about 10 tote bags already and more note pads and pens than I could ever use.

The main thing you should think about in giving a gift at any time, is if YOU yourself might like to receive it. Teachers are no different; we're just people. We like to go out to eat, we buy gas and groceries, we don't have an overwhelming need for knick knacks or cutesy dust collectors, just as you don't. I always try to let my families know how much I love Disney at the beginning of the year (my welcome bulletin board has paper Mickey balloons with a child's name on each, tied with string, and a large full size photo of me at the bottom, "holding" the bunch)-- that way, even if I get note pads, etc. they are more like to be Disney themed!

Food is also a good item if you don't have a lot to spend. One of the cutest ideas I saw on Teacher Appreciation week this year was a gallon ziploc bag with a package of graham crackers, 2 Hershey bars and a small sandwich bag of large marshmallows, with a cute handmade cardboard topper that covered the "zip" saying "The world needs S'MORE teachers like you!" It was darling, didn't cost much (so easy to duplicate for several teachers) and actually useful, especially if the teacher has kids of her own. I loved it! (Beware giving a whole box of candy or other sweets though-- so many teachers I know are watching their weight and dieting, especially toward the end of the year as summer approaches.)

Truly and honestly, the very best gifts are (1) a heartfelt note of thanks, especially if you have the time to write one page of how the teacher helped your child, how your child enjoyed their year, what they learned, what they experienced or what activities made an impact. I like this more than anything! And (2), as mentioned, gift cards. We can use them. I don't drink coffee but I do like Starbucks hot chocolate on a cold day! Gift cards to Walgreens, CVS or Walmart are especially nice for me because I like to print a few photos for each child to give them at the end of the year, to help them remember Pre-K! Its great to be able to use them to pay for the photo printing.

Just my 2 cents. Or ten dollars. :rotfl:

How about...
"I'm FILLED UP with knowledge, TANKS to you!" :lmao:

or maybe just "Got Gas?' :rotfl2: Or maybe not.

The gas gift card is a great idea!

Well I would think it is hard to buy the perfect gift. There were lots of ideas and I guess in the end you have to just pick one.....

You can think of a pro or con for almost every gift out there...

I'd say a gift card for gas or to Starbucks.

As long as the teacher drives, she'll use the gas card. And even if she doesn't frequent Starbucks, well. . .those make great re-gifts.

I know my DD's teacher loves chocolate, so some chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva ,think is a good idea. what do u think???
:confused3

As long as you're a in a climate where they won't be a gooey mess by the end of the school day, they sound fabulous!

I was thinking about an Amazon gift card... Would teachers like it? I shop A all the time and dont go out much with gas so high so was thinking of that.

apron for the teacher (kindergarten). had the kids handprints on it w. their names- the top of the apron said - best teacher hands down.

Hope this give someone an idea on teacher gifts.

LOVE this! I'm going to Micheal's today to see if they have aprons. I commented to my DD's pre-school teacher that I liked her top and she pointed out a stain on it and commented about being to messy when doing crafts with the kids...lol So, I think this would be the perfect gift for her. Thanks for sharing. :goodvibes
I'm giving a gift card too, but this is a great personalized gift.

Those are cute!!! I could totally use one of those. My tote is falling apart. And yes, they'd make cute diaper bags, too!

Yes, I know I would and so would DH. We buy books for our classrooms and for our own professional and personal reading on Amazon all the time.
