Hello! I sub everyday at the same elementary school in my town. I have been in one particular kindergarten class a lot and have grown close witht he kids. Also, I have done my observations in that class as well. I want to get the kids each something cute as a little going away gift, but I do not know what to get them. I was thinking of a little goodie bag or something, but I make $50 a day so keep that in mind. What is something they might like???

I am making bookmarks for my 4th graders.

I want something a little more "fun" for the kindergarteners.

Thanks in advance! :wave2:

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I have 6 kindergardeners and a pre-K in the class I am subbing for. I have had them for 2 months now and most likely will have them for the rest of the year (4 weeks more). So what do I get for these guys. Three girls and 4 boys.

How about a picture from a digital camera with something fun about the class superimposed on it...like 2006- Class of SuperKids. You can even make a simple frame of cardboard for it.

I have a kindergartener and I think he would like that!

My daughter got from her teacher a bug catching kit in kindergarten..it had a net and little storage clear box thing to keep them in...it was from the dollar store so they were really cheap but she loved it!

Little gold medals. You can buy these really cheap from trophy companies, teacher supplies, oriental trading.................then you can print off on sticky-backed paper little individual awards: best teacher helper, best cleaner upper, best bookshelf fixer, best doll dresser, best plant waterer, best door holder, best friend, best new kid helper, best cheerer upper.....................you get the idea. You can stick the sticky-back paper on the back of the medals and have their names printed above the title. They will adore these. Probably won't come off all summer, and they might even wear them proudly into their first grade classes! I would just keep it non-academic, so none feel "bested" that way, and get a negative view of their own academic prowess.........if all awards are social responsibility, they'll all view that as valuable. You even get to teach with your reward.

The dollar store or a party store will have lots of things kids that age would like, all very cheap. Plastic rings, superballs, pencils, stickers...kids that age are not hard to please.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Another vote for the Dollar Store!! I know my little grands love this place :goodvibes !! They had adorable little boy and girls 5" graduation figurines, grad teddy bears in cap and gown, key chains, and other $ things they might enjoy.

BTW - Love your siggie pic Miranda, you have a beautiful smile! :tink:

I know mine (she just turned 7) would enjoy a small bird feeder for spring. I have seen these at the $1 store. You could always buy a big bag ($7) of sunflower seed and put some in a baggie for them to go along with the feeder. I think it would be something they would get enjoyment from for awhile. :)

Last year the aide in Kindergarten gave each of the kids a nice card with a picture of the aide and the kindergarten in it. And she wrote on each of the cards what she enjoyed and liked about that child. Each one was personalized and well thought out. And those little early readers all sat quiet and still and read these sweet words about what a good helper they were, or how much she enjoyed reading with them or how they had made her laugh during their science experiment. And she included in each one a time she had noticed them do something nice that no one else had noticed...Random Acts of Kindness so to speak. The time they cleaned up the books on the floor when they had not been asked. The time they helped their seatmate cut out the star when they had trouble.

It was so simple, but truly so meaningful to these little people. It was so good for them to also realize that someone is WATCHING them and appreciating all those little things they do that no one says thank you for at the time.

And best of all...not to expensive!

In the 5th grade our teacher made ornaments for the class - raggedy ann and andy dolls (ceramic). It's 30 years later and I still hang that ornament on my tree and think of her and the 5th grade.

Another idea, blank books from the dollar store with maybe a computer picture pasted on the front to personalize it - and a note encouraging them to continue their writing skills and journaling over the summer.

I am a KG teacher and I love the idea of writing out a little card with those random acts of kindness on them! I took a picture of my whole class and got those plastic frames at AC Moore (cost about .89) I got puffy paint and wrote on each of them "Kindergarten Star" along with a cougar paw and the year. They were such a nice keepsake! It's so hard to think of new ideas for little gifts; this is a super thread!
