End of Thanksgiving vs early December booking

Hello,

I need some guidance. We are looking to book either the weeks of:

Friday, Nov. 23- Sunday, Dec. 2nd

or

Thur., Nov. 29--Sat., Dec. 8th

These are new unchartered weeks for us and I know those are big DVC weeks.

(FYI--We own at BWV and have only 99 points but I am planning on borrowing to get up to that 210ish level.)

When looking online, BWV standard is available but I was hoping to really stay at OKW due to the size of the villa.

My questions are:

1. If I wait to book at the 7 month mark, will OKW available?
2. Should I book BWV in advance just to be safe? However, if I do book BWV and then try to switch to OKW, can I do that with borrowed points? Sorry to show my ignorance, but I haven't ever switched before.
Also, if I am successful in switching and the overall point value is less, do I lose those extra borrowed points?
3. Of those two weeks, which one do you feel will be most difficult to book at 7 months?

Yes, book the reservation at BWV, so that you can rest assured knowing that you have a reservation for your desired dates of travel. You will be able to switch your reservation, using borrowed points, if OKW is available.

OKW is undergoing a hard goods refurbishment, so it is difficult to guess how many villas will be removed from the inventory during that time. As long as you are not seeking a villa in the Hospitality House area, you may be able to secure some, if not all, of your preferred days for a 1-bedroom villa (which I am assuming given your 210ish point comment).

Yes, that is my worry that some of the OKW inventory for the one-bedrooms will be under refurbishment.

So some of the experts will chime in but I believe, working with MS, you can choose to use the borrowed points for the reservation and any current UY points not needed may be banked. Once borrowed points are borrowed they can’t be returned to the borrowed year but I believe you can bank those not borrowed.

As to which week, I think I would choose 29-8 Dec but I have no feeling as to availability. There is someone who tracks availability, SkiierPete maybe...try searching for it.
