Is it normal that all value and almost all moderate resorts are fully booked end of January?

January 2020? Four weeks from now? Its not unusual. Or it coukd be that just onenight is full. Or that your trip doesn't mesh with the exact number of room nights available. Or it vpcould be a glitch.

Call.

I just got done looking at all of January and February because we thought about doing a last minute weekend trip and there is hardly anything. We decided we just won’t be staying onsite.

Added days to a January end trip and it's been a nightmare piecing together nights. Between DVC unavailable, DVC cash unavailable or very high one bedrooms only etc and AP promo rates changing by the minute and for 2 nights only...wow.
This is going to be one crazy major Split Stay trip. We like a Split but this is yikes.
We don't rent a car and don't stay offsite so this was definitely challenging.

Disney resorts run almost full all year long. Especially weekends. And you are talking less than a month away. There are very little last minute reservations at WDW anymore.

There are some cheer competitions & the Arts Festival at Epcot. Plus tour groups on summer vacation from South America. We have gone the end of January/ beginning of February the last 2 years. The parks aren’t empty. We stayed at POR January 29 - February 2, 2018. The food court was packed every morning, no matter what time we went. I mean people were walking around with trays of food looking for a table. These seemed to be families, not tour groups either. We used to stay at POR in the end of August when our kids were younger & we never saw those types of crowds.

So yea, it is normal for Disney resorts to be fully booked for the end of January when you are looking at the beginning of January.

thanks all, things have certainly changed, seems there is no quiet times at the world anymore. Decided to gamble with hotwire and got a great rate at Wyndham Bonnet creek, so i'm happy :)

I booked a ASMovies room for the week of Jan. 21st to Jan. 28th 2020 back in October and check to see if I can rebook a better rate from time to time.

there has NOT been any all stars rooms available for the last 3-4 weeks at least and I've been checking daily. I started checking more often because I've never seen it like this leading up to a trip we always go in "off season". so I can confirm it's not normal however I am not in panic mode because All stars music is half closed for refurbishment and maybe this has caused all three all stars to be sold out for the last month. guess we'll find out.

We tried to book All Stars for that time 11 months out and they were all fully booked. We got a room in POP Century but it was absolutely full of cheer teams. They were well-behaved and reasonably quiet but did everything en masse so made using the cafeteria at times difficult and don't get me started on the Disney transport, especially at the end of the night when hundreds of them left the parks at the same time. The logistics of sharing a resort with lots of teenagers who do everything together means we're staying at the Contemporary this year!

Having the same issue here. I’ve had CSR pop up here and there for one night but no values whatsoever. DVC is booked solid. Travel agent was completely sold out on her agency exclusives as well, which to be fair was only at one hotel. Considering off-site. Last trip on our APs and a very quick one at that. And it may not even happen!

Our trip the first week of December had most of the resorts booked up months ahead of time, and people always called it a "lower" time. We were a little worried but it turned out fine, no busier than the year prior (where we easily booked a last minute trip). I think Disney is doing better at filling the rooms but that doesn't always translate to packed parks.

We're staying at All Star Movies 1/22-1/26 and it just occurred to me last night that the South American teen tour groups come in January and February and stay at the All Stars. Needless to say, I really wish I'd booked somewhere else but there's just no availability anywhere for a reasonable price. We had a terrible experience with the groups at ASMovies in July 2018. Hoping not to repeat that experience. Ugh.

We stayed there right around the same dates in 2019 and the groups came in towards the end of the week but they didn't bother us at the hotel at all! We stayed in a preferred room so I'm not sure if that made a difference but it was very quiet at night!
