In the event that I might want to use some Hilton Head points at the World every 5-6 years how hard is it to get a studio, for around 3-4 nights, during say the last week of January and the first week of February? (at 7 months out) My husband did mention to me that he would like to stay at the AKVs at some point and we do love that time frame.

I told him I wasn't sure, but I thought that OKW and SSR were a possibility.

See attached file. Also see Skier Petes threads. Caveats:

1) I didn't compile it. However, from my own research I believe its efficacy is good.
2) Does not include BLT as compiler owned there.
3) Does not include full Poly.
4) This is historical data only, taken from 2015. It does not mean a room will be available, and over time booking patterns will change. Having said that, I personally have found it pretty accurate so far over the last year for current bookings.

You should be OK for AKL at that time if you book the morning 7 months out.

Thanks ya'll. It even looks at if the Poly might be available then.

Possibly. I booked Poly 6 months out for September this year, no probs.

You shouldn't have a problem at that time frame for AKV. We booked BCV at 5 months out for the 3rd week of Jan and that resort typically fills before AKV

This post by drusba will also be very helpful to you - based on my experience over the past 10 years of 2 - 3 trips per year, it's right on!

drusba's 7 Month Availability Summary from October, 2016

FWIW, I do not think you will have a problem getting in to any DVC resort for the time frame you mention. You may not be able to get the least expensive category (value, concierge, standard) or the theme park category, but as long as you book when the 7 month window opens, you should be able to get a studio at the resort you prefer (except for possibly the VGF). For AKV, the savanna category and the standard view category are very possible.

Since the NFL pro bowl has been moved to Orlando, and will be again on Jan 29, 2018 the parks are crazy crowded. We were there in Jan 2017 and will never go again while the pro bowl is on. There were more people than the summer crowds.

Ewwww. We were there the following weekend, no problems.
