So im thinking of taking the hubby and kids tent camping in thr fort at the end of april. i have noticed there are lots of openings, so am i nuts for wanting to go at that time? are people not booking because its too hot or whats going on? thanks!!!

Lots of openings? When making a reservation online it does not specify exactly how many open sites there are just what type of campsites are available. So really it could be one open or ten or twenty, we don't really know.

April is spring break time and Easter, usually very busy time. Will likely book up soon. Camping at the fort during Easter brings lots of extra activities. I would love to camp there during that time!! Weather, I imagine is very enjoyable (do a accuweather future forecast check).

That's a little surprising to hear given that Easter Sunday is in April and the week before and after are generally pretty busy. Weekdays are easier to get than Friday or Saturday nights. But to answer your question, April is a fantastic time to tent camp. We typically go January to April most years and other than a rare mosquito (Disney does spray in the campground) it's a great time weather-wise.

Book it now IMO.

PS - what are the dates you are looking at?

i was looking at april 21 to the 29th. and the reason i say that it has alot of openings is because everytime i went to book on other dates something was always booked full...i was very surprised to see everything open. now to just work out the details and book!

We tent camped May 1st-4th last year at the Fort. The weather was pretty good. It got quite hot in the tent early aftetnoon, but we spent that time at the pool so it didn't really effect us. If I remember correctly we got light rain 1 night and heavy rain another. We were comfortable at night with fans going in our tents. We will likely be back at the same time this year.
