End NOISE in your resort room-once and for all!!!!

Maybe I haven't said it enough times (although I am sure I have).....


so.... I decided to make a thread about it because it is such as issue (the turbo toilets, thin walls , loud kids)

Stay where you want and don't worry about the noise.

On one trip we brought a humidifier because my DS was getting over a cold (this was at AKL). Our room was above the lobby, the resort was at capacity and we never heard a peep because of the humidifier. I have packed it every time since. It blocks out the noises even in the value resorts-first floor where people are walking by constantly.

Easy to pack..... since it is hollow inside, I put it in a suitcase and put little things in it. You could even pack socks inside of it.

If you don't like humidifiers, bring a white noise machine.

So, I've solved the noise problem.

LOL! white noise machines and air purifiers and humidifiers and all those types of "noise blockers" make me want to slit my wrists! they make TOO MUCH NOISE! and a horrible noise at that! i would sooner prefer turbo toilets, cheerleaders, pop warner, and crying babies than a white noise! UGH! but glad it worked for you!

I take a small desk fan that I can pack in my luggage. Works like a charm.

My DH and I have been sleeping with a humidifier in our room for several years. I originally used it when I was ill, however now we cannot sleep without the white noise. It also works wonders when you have noisy neighbors during the night! Ours is to big to pack when we fly, but we always bring it with us when we drive to our vacation destination.

LOL. this thread makes me laugh! DH and i sleep with a fan on 365 days a year! poor DH can't sleep without some kind of white noise. we've been married 12 years, and i think i'm finally used to it! but when he is out of town...ahhhhh, sweet silence!!

We just got back from the CR where they were putting down carpet in the hallways. Thank goodness I had my white noise machine or otherwise my toddler would have had a hard time taking a nap in the afternoon! Worked great!

WDW=excited children - lots of them. If noise might be a problem I highly suggest you bring something to mask it. Much less stressful that way

It's a shame we have to resort to "devices" to blot out potential noises when you pay top $$$ to stay at some of these resorts. If I pay $500 bucks a night to stay at GF, I shouldn't hear anything!

When we are trying to sleep and the noise is keeping us awake we just put the radio on a "non" station and let the static do the job of making "white noise". Nothing to pack and you can make it as soft or as loud as you like. Works like a charm. Even covers the noise of my DH snoring!

This thread turned out to be funny, but I was actually serious! People do complain about "noise" a lot, even to the point of suggesting that someone not stay at a resort because they had noisy neigbors, plumbing,etc.... it is a problem that is easy enough to solve.

I also sleep with a fan on. Can't wait until the AC can go in the window - louder fan. LOL I work 10:30 pm - 7:00 am. Works wonders to drown out you daytime people. LOL

Another 11-7 employee here. Between the ceiling fan on high and my white noise machine I can drown out the daytime people too. I'm leaving very early Friday morning for WDW and was afraid I would forget to pack the White Noise machine so went ahead and placed it in the suitcase when I packed yesterday. I don't know how I'm going to sleep today without my 'Summer Rain'.

Where can I buy a white noise machine? It won't be for Disney but home, especially with summer coming. I work nights and need good sleep not just on my weekends (mondays and tuesdays). thanks for any info

NOTHING blocks the noise of my DHs snoring! I keep the radio on, wear earplugs and still can't get a good night's sleep. I nap when he's not around, but that doesn't work well on vacation.

I think I need to buy one of these machines and train myself to sleep with white noise. I am one that needs TOTAL silence in order to sleep - poor DH has to bear with me in the summer with no windows open, no fan, etc. I sleep horribly whenever on vacation because I can hear every little sound throughout the hotel. This would help me tremendously if I could learn to sleep with the white noise going - at home and especially on vacation.

I agree with devoted Chritstian that if we are paying top dollar that the noise shouldn't be a real issue. I took the white noise machine on our trip a few weeks ago when we stayed at the Polynesian and it did not help much with our neighbors getting up at 6 am and making so much noise it was obnoxious. I guess though when you are in the situation of a hotel it can't be helped. I thought though the more expensive hotels should have the best soundproofing. That was the only thing I was dissappointed and surprised about the Poly though.
