We are planning our 1st DL trip after 3 times at WDW. Our March break is 1 st week of March. We also want to see San Diego and maybe 1 day tour in Hollywood (9-10 days total). If we arrive Feb 27 (Wednesday) should we do DL right away for 4-5 days or do San Diego on arrival and DL starting on March 4-5?

From what I read the further you go into March, the more busy it gets. However I also read weekends are always busy with locals.

Any suggestions are appreciated as we are coming from pretty far away (Canada's east coast).

Thanks

That time period will be off-season. Among other things that means you should take care about choosing days of the week. It comes down to your priorities regarding entertainment. For a first visit to DLR I would recommend you overlap a weekend.

This thread will be a good place to start:

If it were me, I would go as early as possible. We went last year around March 8th, for 4 days (Thurs - Sun). They were running specials until March 1st because the parks were not very crowded so we just missed the specials. Each day we were there, it got more and more crowded. Sat afternoon and Sunday were VERY crowded. The CMs said we were there at the beg. of spring break. This year, Easter is even earlier, which makes me wonder if the crowds will start even earlier. Our spring break is one week earlier than it was last year.

Make sure to hit a Friday, Saturday or Sunday (or 2 of those days). Fantasmic! and fireworks only show during the weekends that time of year.

Ok thanks. I forgot that some entertainment offerings are limited off-season. I will bookmark hydroguy's thread. Looks like our 1st 4 days would be DL as I don't think I couldwait that long anyways. The only other consideration would be if there are conventions in Anaheim but at least now we can start planning around these dates.

Good point. I think that the cheerleader/dance teams are there around that time too. I think they were there the first weekend of March last year....

Note that this thread is VERY old. It was originally created 5 years ago--before WOC, when they still had Light Parade in DCA. I would NOT miss WOC if you've never seen it.

I would still go along with HydroGuy's recommendation. Do Wed-Fri/Sat and focus on rides in the am of weekend and then just focus on shows and entertainment in the pm.
