Both of my daughters are crazy about the film Enchanted and love Giselle. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in Disney that has anything to do with the film or the character? Would they be able to meet the character anywhere? I'm not holding out too much hope, but thought it was worth an ask!!

I do not recall anywhere to meet her or any reference to her so I am interested in this also.

I will tell you we did CRT and we took a Giselle dress for DD (surprise) - Disney Store Outlet - (cheap) and Cinderella mentioned that DDs dress reminded her of Giselle's dress! DD was in heaven for the rest of the day. :)

Would they be able to meet the character anywhere?

Nope.

Sorry.

I think Enchanted is a GREAT film, too.

Near the time of the film's release, "Giselle" was featured riding in a horse-drawn carriage just before the afternoon parade at DHS, then, on later dates, at MK's afternoon parade.

After that... Giselle vanished from the parks.

There isn't much Giselle stuff because Disney realized they'd have to pay Amy Adams for the use of her likeness. That's why Giselle never became part of the Princess line-up.

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to reply that has really helped. I now won't waste valuable time looking everywhere for her!!! My daughters will be devestated though!!

You say that as though Disney hadn't thought of securing the rights to their character before they made the film.

Yeah, this is not true. This was remedied back in the 70's when Lucas set the bar on merchandising with the SW characters.

Are you kidding me? Where did you come up with this rumor?

Yeah, this is not true. This was remedied back in the 70's when Lucas set the bar on merchandising with the SW characters.

In this article from the Wall Street Journal

"Meanwhile, Disney's first live-action princess movie, "Enchanted," will hit screens this week and is being tapped to sell more princess products. The movie -- in which an animated girl betrothed to a prince is propelled into modern-day, live-action New York City -- was originally conceived as a chance to introduce a new princess, Giselle, to the lineup, according to people familiar with the matter. But Disney abandoned that plan when it realized securing the life-long rights to the image of Amy Adams, who plays Giselle, was harder than an ugly step-sister squeezing into Cinderella's glass shoe."

Somebody told me that Johnny Depp gets paid too because of Jack Sparrow in the parks? Is that true?

Are you or a loved one a yellow bear that wears red half-shirts and carries a honey pot?

Do you have skin white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony?

Are you a small white duck with a serious speech impediment?

If so, you might be eligible for compensation under a class action lawsuit on behalf of individuals whose likenesses have been unlawfully used by Disney Corporation.

At Shyster, Shyster & Swindler, we specialize in representing cartoon-ish folk who feel they deserve fair compensation for Disney’s profits on their nonconformities.

Can't neccesarily go by WSJ.
The way most contracts are done these days, Actors/actressess, sign their likeness within the contract if merchandising would be a lucrative part of the film's income.

The only Enchanted-related things that I saw on my last trip were some costumes at the AFI Showcase at Hollywood Studios, but they were only costumes worm by Queen Narissa and Nathaniel- nothing of Giselle's.

Well I'm certainly not in the mood to argue on a forum about it, and since no one seems to have a definitive answer direct from Disney or Amy Adams, it'll have to remain a mystery. I myself would go with a published source before I believe anything from word of mouth.

Since there isn't much Giselle or Enchanted merchandise, perhaps Amy Adams didn't want to be typecast as that once character for the rest of her life and career so she didn't agree to signing away her likeness. Johnny Depp on the other hand, aren't they paying him something like $55 million for the 4th Pirates? I'd sign over my image for merchandise for the rest of my life for that kind of money!

Oh I'm not arguing with you, I just kind of know this first hand. I worked for a game development company, and we had to make likenesses of certain characters from a certain movie. And that's what was explained to us. Now movies that have no real merchandising qualities, such as let's say "The Green Mile" would not have this added into their contract.

On another note, Giselle will indeed be in the Magic Kingdom 12-12-08, in the person of my beautiful 9 year old daughter.
After a morning visit to BBB and wearing Giselle's white gown. She will be at the MK all day, say "hi" and wish her a happy birthday. princess:
