I just got back from seeing Enchanted. And two words "LOVED IT". As I was out from work early today, due to the holiday, I wanted to catch a matinee of the film. First theatre was sold out, second one had three lines out the door, finally as in all good fairytales, I found my golden ticket at the third theatre. Granted it wasn't a matinee by this point but I was there.

Does the Disney magic work for this film, I think so. It is great seeing the concepts of True Love's First Kiss, Wishes come True, and Happily Ever After played out in a cynical modern world of today, and see that these things really do hold up. And that deep down, in our day to day worlds of being a grown up we still want to or even still do believe in it.

I think that this film captures the essense of what we "get" in the parks. Why we continue to go year after year. Sure the film had its cheesy moments, but what classic Disney story doesn't. In fact, romance and love is cheesy in a way ( a good way).

The nods to Disney films was fun to spot. Jodi Benson, Paige O'Hara, and Judy Kuhn are in it (Cameos). And Amy Adams did an excellent job as Gisselle. Her mannerisms and gestures were straight out of the Disney Princess handbook, you could see Cindy, Sleepy Beauty, and the rest in the way she carried herself. She wasn't an airhead character, she was just naive to our world and what Disney character wouldn't be. And how she grew in character yet stayed true to her core, even in 2007 New York City.

To me this was truly a great film, it was a classic Disney cartoon come to life, and updated for today. Spoke to an audience that grew up on the "magic" and still wants to believe it is there. The levels of this film I think will appeal to many groups of people.

Plus I could have fallen for Prince Edward (there were some serious moments in the character, you could see his confusing and pain) and Patrick Dempsey in that outfit at the ball????? *swoon*

I'm so glad to hear it's good. We're taking our granddaughters on Friday. Then Grandpa's taking his girls (me, too) out for lunch. This is gonna be fun!

Thanks for the review! I would definitely swoon seeing Patrick Dempsey in any outfit - he is YUMMY!

How was the music? I read online that Menken did the score for this one too. What did you think?

Not as sweeping as Beauty and the Beast, or Little Mermaid.. those had a broadway quality to them. But the music was a step above ok.

But I am in love with Carrie Underwood's song for the film... and the guy in the video. :-)

Carrie's voice is terrific so I'm looking forward to that. LOL I just butchered "Before He Cheats" last night a kareoke - lol.

I got to see it last night, I tend to agree with you EQ, it was great. I laughed so hard at some parts, I caught the hidden, or not so hidden, Little Mermaid Song: "A Part of Your World". There was even a Scotty Dog in it!!! (P.S. I have a Scotty and am obsessed!) He walks in front of Patrick Dempsy's building, you have to watch pretty quick for it though. My favorite part though?! Here's a hint for anyone that's seen it: "Wow! Great reception here!" HA! HA! HA! Loved it!

Saw "Enchanted" yesterday, nice date w/ my Prince. It was great! (The movie & the date ;) .) EQ's review hit it on the nose, and for those of you on the fence about seeing the movie... They have dancing construction workers party: and a leather daddy in it! I almost wet myself :lmao: (or at least the woman in front of me when I almost sprayed soda out of my mouth).

Yeah I saw it again this past Saturday and caught the Scottie. I used to have a Westie so I understand your obsession. My current is the Boston Terrier

I've been excited for this film since the previews. It seemed from the previews that Disney was sort of making fun of itself in a way. Perhaps they showed the wrong side of the movie, but either way, I plan on seeing it.

I saw this movie a few days ago and I'm in love with it..and Giselle

I plan on seeing it again. And knowing me I'm gonna make a few of my friends see it :woohoo:

I really want to see it! Would an older person (being my Mom) enjoy it as well?

I just saw Enchanted last night. It was snowing out and my bf and I were the ONLY ones in the theater! w00t! It was a great movie. I really enjoyed it!

We're gonna watch the movie on Jan 5th. There's a private screening for annual passport holders at the Walt Disney Studios Paris. The perfect place to see the movie, really looking forward to it.
