"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

So sorry that Hailey was not feeling great. I was glad to see she recovered and was able to join in again.

Still making my rounds at the Toronto Zoo with Riley and Carrie,

51.jpg

Those pelicans with the tiny penguins are making me nervous

"Mine! Mine! Mine!"

I love how you find so many Disney details everywhere. There were definitely a few Animal Kingdom touches. I knew right away that the Toronto Zoo was trying to imitate AK when you didn't see DeVine there, either!

The moving hippo was very impressive. And gives me an opportunity to share one of my favorite comics:

Woo hoo, caught up. One time I was at the Falls with some people from work that I was traveling with, and we did the Behind the Falls tour. At the time, the Unabomber was on the run and the only "picture" of him was a police sketch of him in a hooded sweatshirt and dark glasses. So anyway, we'd just received our plastic "rain capes" and were riding down in those elevators when one of my traveling companions says, "Hey Glenn, I'm the Unabomber"...and I turn around and burst out laughing because he's got his rain cape on with the hood up, and some sunglasses on and, well, maybe you had to be there, but trust me, it was funny.

Glenn- I enjoyed your "reason for edit comment" Just so you know someone saw it!

:lmao:

And the Llama parade.

81.jpg

Those two girls at the bottom left corner of the lama parade are looking really judgmental. I almost feel like they're judging me.

That is funny!

:rotfl2:

I had been wanting to decorate my MagicBand but reluctant to try, since I am really bad at painting. I can't even paint trim. :confused3

Then I saw your MB and thought - if Rob can do it, then maybe I can too. Well, I don't know how you did such a good job with that Mickey head, because I found it hard to do. That line around the head is narrow. :scared1: I ended up brushing the paint all over and then scraping off the parts I didn't want. It was easier that way. ;)

I have no idea how you made that Mickey head look so good, but kudos to you. It is harder than it looks. :thumbsup2

Aww trust me Sue, I am awful at that too. I really am.

YES YOU CAN!!! Honestly, that is true, if I can, anyone can. The Mickey head is hard for sure. Patience is the key. And the tiny brush that comes with nail polish helps. But scraping off works too. :)

Thank You, it is hard. Try using a Sharpie to copy over the outline. It really helps it to stand out.

The animals of Canadia are awesome.

I have never seen a black squirrel either. How odd. I was like:

reading-ikea-intructions-big-lebowski-confused.gif

Not too bad I must say Jake.

OK this is good that I'm not alone here. Apparently they are common is some places, but this was a first for me.

That's sweet Dee. I know Carrie really appreciates all the concern. She recovered well.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that's why they're all huddled into the corner like that.

Aww thanks. I can't help it really. Disney just finds its way into my every day life all the time. Haha, you know, I actually often run into DiVine. I know for many it is quite rare, but there was one day I just kept running into her constantly.

Hahaha, too cute. They're so interesting and look docile, but yet are so vicious I hear.

Haha, thanks for posting that (re: the edit) or I would have missed it. Classic Glenn.

People are ON FIRE right now with their comments.

Interesting tid bit about black squirrels. Very common here where I live near Kent State University. They were brought there by a professor and they escaped. So they are everywhere here in Northeast Ohio.

Caught back up!

The little opening number at the Disney outlets is cute. I actually had to open my local store once. There was nobody else around, so they asked me. But I got a lanyard out of it, so it was a win.:rotfl:

Sounds like a nice time at the Toronto Zoo. Some pretty unique animals there. Not every zoo has polar bears and pandas. At least, not in the U.S.

But what the heck is a llama parade?!?! :lmao::rotfl2:

Well, I'm ashamed to say that I just found this thread less than a week ago. However, I am proud to say that I am current now! :cool1:

Unfortunately, stupid me didn't take any notes on what I have been reading over the last week, so I don't have many comments.

However, I wanted to comment on a couple of things about Niagara Falls and Canada. When I went to Niagara Falls about 15 years ago, we did the journey behind the falls also, and I have some of the almost identical pictures as yours. Also, since Carrie doesn't like heights (apparently), you should have taken her to the CN Tower in Canada to stand on the glass floor. I remember doing that when I was in 8th grade, and I thought it was awesome to be that high up and look down through the floor to the ground.

Anyway, your TRs are always awesome. The people of the DIS are awesome. I've only made 1 trip to the World in my adult life, but my wife, daughter, and I are planning to return next year for the first week in December. I can't wait. And, who knows? Maybe I'll meet some cool DISers while I'm there like you did.

Oh wow, thank you for that info. And that does make sense. They appear to be quite common in many places, just not here on the east cost.

Great pictures, Rob! Sorry Hailey started to not feel well though :(

Thanks Alexis. It was a good time. Yes, it was so hot that day that it just got the best of her. But a little break and she was good as new.

Awesome Alicia. And I hope your trip was a good one. Looking forward to hearing about it.

I loved it!!! I had no idea they did that. Honestly, you couldn't wipe the smile from my face. And you did the little show??? Sa-Weet!

The thing that surprised me the most was the Arctic animals. I knew about the Pandas because it was big news when they arrived. But Polar Bears and Penguins was not expected.

Bahaha, that's when they move the Llama from one place to another.

Oh goodness, don't be silly. Nothing to be ashamed about there, but I do now get to WELCOME you properly. And that was a LOT of reading.

Again, no worries there. I'm sure it was all just so captivating that stopping for notes would be unthinkable, lol.

That Journey attraction was super. I'm not surprised little has changed in the last 15 years. I would have done the CN Tower walk in a heartbeat, but we never actually made it to Downtown Toronto. I know I would have liked it at least. :)

Thank you SO VERY MUCH!!! The people here are indeed awesome many times over. First week of December is one of the absolute best times to go all year, no doubt. I certainly wish you to meet some great people. I know I'll never forget it.

"DON'T CRY BECAUSE IT'S OVER, SMILE BECAUSE IT HAPPENED"
A Very Merry Intermission - July 20, 2014 Part 3

After leaving the zoo, but before heading to the hotel, the decision was made to get dinner.
Carrie was dying for Mandarin (a Chinese buffet), and that was good by me, PLUS, there was one located pretty near the hotel.

84.jpg

The first thing you see upon entering is, oddly, the Epcot Japanese pavilion.

85.jpg

Despite being a Chinese restaurant, they sure do bring on the Canadia atmosphere, which in my world also includes palm trees.

86.jpg

They told us it would be a lengthy wait for a table, but we were actually seated pretty quickly.

We placed our drink orders, and then hit the buffet, which of course I documented for you all!!!

At the Zoo, they were giving out a coupon for a free "Panda" milkshake at any Mandarin restaurant since they were a sponsor.

We all ordered one of course (it was free), but Panda sponsorship or not, this was a Mickey Milkshake.

96.jpg

97.jpg

On the second round of buffet, Riley came with me, and as I was dishing out some mashed potatoes for her,
Watched a big clump fall to the ground, right between her feet, but not one drop landed on her.

I’m a professional,

When we returned, I discovered that someone had found my camera.

98.jpg

Riley also discovered a fabulous new drink offered at Mandarin restaurants… Canadia Crimson.

100.jpg

She is really into the whole Canadia thing, which I guess considering she designed the flag is no real surprise.

After our delish meal, we headed to the hotel to finally check in, and I got some photos of the room.

Just your basic nice and clean room, but what really set it apart was the stellar view.

Seriously, can you believe they didn’t charge me extra?

The rest of the crew had a room just down the hall, and they had already gone down to the indoor pool that they’d been excited for all day.

I, however, went on a photo tour of the hotel.

I had stopped by the pool for a bit on my rounds to watch the kids swim, and then eventually I retreated back to the room to relax.

A little while later there was a knock on the door, as someone wanted to say goodnight before heading off to bed,
And present me with my brand new Cars themed Rainbow Loom bracelet.

139.jpg

Tomorrow, we were finally heading to Canadia's Wonderland.

TO BE CONTINUED…

Okay, here's another Disney reference for ya...I saw the various flags and then the row of Canadian flags and immediately thought, "A Salute To All Nations But Mostly Canadia."

Panda or Mickey, that milkshake looks amazing.

The hotel looks great! Especially the waterslide.

The slide at the hotel pool is really cool! I've never seen one like that -- I bet the girls enjoyed it! :goodvibes

And, the Bumble Bee is pretty cute! :thumbsup2

That is a really cute picture of Carrie and Hailey. You guys really hit the jackpot with those free panda/Mickey drinks. They look really good.

LOL I love how everything can somehow be associated with Disney in one way or another!

Dinner at Mandarin looks great, especially those milkshakes! Yum! :thumbsup2

The hotel looks really nice!

That was some buffet! I love the "Mickey" shake...We're surrounded by subtle signs of Disney. Funny how even subtle references don't get by those who are Disney lovers! :)

How sweet that you were the proud recipient of a Cars themed bracelet.

I love that the hotel has a picture of you hanging in the lobby!

Magic Mirror?

Great restaurant choice! That is quite a buffet and they were kind enough to have Mickey shakes. Now if there were Zebra Domes at the dessert table, that might be pushing it.

Looks like a really nice hotel with a fun pool. You don't see too many indoor pool slides.

Isn't it amazing how you can find Disney anywhere? I find Disney references even here in my hometown. Sometimes I even make Disney references at work. My coworkers look at me like I'm crazy. And that's ok, because I am crazy...

CRAZY ABOUT DISNEY! :rotfl2:

Ahh...I crack myself up. Anyway, looking forward to the rest of your Canadia adventure.

That looked like a GIANT buffet! Wow!

The hotel had a waterslide? I never would have been able to drag Maddie away!

Wow, that chinese buffet looks yummy! I'll have to keep that name in mind for some vague time in the future.
Hotel looks good! But WOW that view! Spectacular!

Finally caught up. I love the cat shelter in the mall! I have two cats, a shelter cat and a rescue from the side of the road, and I just love them. I'm glad these kitties are getting lots of attention and hopefully adopted.

The disney at the mall pics were great! How cute that the disney store does an opening ceremony thing. I really wish there was a disney store near me still. Although it's probably for the best. I would spend all my money on vinylmations. They are so addicting to buy.

The zoo looked fun. Penguins are my favorite. Sorry to hear that Hailey got sick but at least she was able to bounce back quickly.

I'm not really a Chinese food person but that Buffett looked pretty good, especially the milkshake! The hotel looked nice too with a fun water slide.

What a fun mini trip!

NICE!!!!!!! OMG how did miss that???? Just no excuse at all. Well done Courtney!

It was gooooooooood! In fact it was so good that the girls decided that was enough of a dessert. Kids...

It really was a lovely hotel. And my God I swear they were probably more excited about that water slide than anything else.

The slide at the hotel pool is really cool! I've never seen one like that -- I bet the girls enjoyed it! :goodvibes

OMG Julie, they LOVED it!! As did Carrie, lol.

Honestly I miss that car. I really really do. When it was christened Bumble Bee it genuinely became a big part of the trip.

That is a really cute picture of Carrie and Hailey. You guys really hit the jackpot with those free panda/Mickey drinks. They look really good.

It is, and they were so clever about it too. Oh God those drinks were so good Sue. Although initially it was hard to drink because... Mickey. I wanted to keep it like that for as long as possible.

LOL I love how everything can somehow be associated with Disney in one way or another!

Hahaha, you know that is absolutely true Lauren. Certainly in my world. I notice stuff I swear every single day. And of course, that's a good thing. Just wait until Canada's Wonderland!

They have some great food I must say. A tad expensive, but so good. And the milkshakes were tremendous. And I certainly did like that price, lol.

It was lovely. Very clean and comfy and really close to Wonderland.

Well Brenda, taking a break from more DISmeets I see. :) Oh Brenda it was SO GOOD, especially that shake! You know, you're so right. I'm at the point now where I see Disney everywhere. And Canada's Wonderland has some not so subtle references which I'll get to.

I adore that girl. She literally made that at the hotel.
