"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

Yeah, when I saw Saving Mr. Banks, I just wanted to pause the scene where she goes to the hotel room and all the stuffed toys are there, so I could just look at everything...

So sorry that you weren't able to see Wishes from the center of Main Street :( those crowds really sneak up on you sometimes! Hopefully you'll get a better vantage point later in the trip.

But the good news is, your gal Stacey is here to cheer you up!!!

OMG, I DID pause the scene (I won't say how though). How cool was all that? I would have been like, OK where do I sign??

Aww thanks Courtney. It was a big fat bummer, but yeah, it was nuts. And oh yes, I will get my spot later AND continue on afterwards for one of my favorite nights ever. So all is good.

And that certainly did not hurt ;)

Hi Rob

Figured that I would follow along on your adventure since you have been so kind as to do the same with mine! Now just give me a bit to get caught up on yours...lol
~Jenn :)

Hi Jenn and welcome!! I am so very delighted that you're here. Thank you!! Believe me, I am thoroughly enjoying your story. I've only just finished the first real day here, so not too much to work through hopefully, lol.

Mermaid trifecta for the win!
I love the peoplemover. I get the leg shot every time too. It's a necessity! But it's too bad that your go on the peoplemover made you miss Wishes :( I hate how congested Magic Kingdom gets at Wishes O'clock. It's impossible to get around! I had to get to the bathroom once. Took me 45 minutes! I hope you get back and see Wishes another time and I am betting you do. Glad you had Stacey back at least!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Haha totally Wendy. It seems so obvious now.

Me too and the leg shot is a must. Oh goodness what a dumb dumb moment by me. I guess I was counting on it not being too bad, but I was so very wrong. It was so crowded. Insane. But I so know better that non party nights are like that. Epic fail.

Oh I do get back and have one of the best nights ever. So no worries there. And YUP, having my Stacey back sure did help.

Hiya Rob! I love your People Mover picture. I am sorry you missed Whishes on your birthday, BUT you are still in Disney, so that is a win.

I am heading down on Thursday (eeepppp!), so I will check in when I get back!

Oh man! You know, you'll just have to go back to Disney next December 4th and have a do-over! Bummer about Wishes-O'clock timing being off. :sad1:

However... the silver lining was having some Stacey time at the end of your day. That should have been some consolation.

Here's Stacy encouraging a Wishes do-over for you!

Oh, and that Mickey cookie looks adorable. If I remember correctly, it looked better than it tasted.

Okay I am all caught up! First of all you are a great narrator.....oh my goodness your humor had me crying with laughter. Always in for a TR with a bit of humor and sarcasm :thumbsup2 The cat bit at the beginning almost had me pee my pants from laughing.....to much info? Probably. That's crazy the we were at the POP at the same time (well Dec 5th for us anyways) wouldn't that be crazy if we had passed each other not knowing that we would both be doing TR's on the dis? Or if we had been in each others pics....crazy. BTW love that you were rockin the monorail shirt. I have one too! Seriously debated paying $20 for a Hanes tee but after going back and forth for a while finally gave in cause the shirt is awesome! ::yes:: Love your Everest ride pics but what IS up with sleeping guy? I would have thrown up if I rode that many times in row...
I totally get what you mean about seeing people in the world after you have read their TR's here lol. Last May I saw mickeystoontown aka Lisa on a CBR bus with her family and I was almost star struck seeing her in real life....it's so weird right?! Of course I climbed into my imaginary turtle shell that I carry with me and did not introduce myself cause I am awkward like that lol. Glad that you were able to do some dis meets though. I am just too shy for that.
Okay southern people like to ramble and that is what I am doing now so I will speed the rest up.....Sofia character does have a big creepy head, snow in Canada = oh my goodness so jealous, cowboy sequence on movie ride holy cow awesome, Ariel tri-fecta is brilliant, modern family Disneyland taping...so cool favorites, and lastly, so sorry about wishes. That really sucked that it did not work out for you the way you wanted, but I loved your back story that you posted, you really nailed it on the head. Yay Disney magic :cloud9: Okay long post over...caught up...the end lol :goodvibes

Oh crap P.S. loved the Stacey shirt lol!

Bummer about wishes! :( I'm glad you had more opportunities to see them though. I hope your next try turned out better. On the upside, at least Stacy was back! She couldn't miss your birthday, Rob. :) What a dreamy birthday you had. Yay!!

I am so sorry that you did not get to enjoy WISHES on Main Street. I am glad that you did not let it ruin a otherwise GREAT Birthday :)

I am so jealous that you got to see the Modern family taping. I am so in love with that show and would have died to see it.

Looking forward to the next up date :goodvibes

I am so sorry your plan of experiencing Wishes on your birthday night didn't happen. I can picture exactly in my mind all of the routes you were taking and the masses of people that were blocking you. We have tried to navigate those crowds too, with a stroller no less!! But it was good to read that the rest of your trip more than made up for missing Wishes that night. :goodvibes

Ahh thank you!! And thanks on the Wishes debacle. And you are so right!!! Still in Disney, why be sad?

Ooooh lucky!!! HAVE A BLAST!!!!

Haha, you know maybe that was the plan the whole time and I just didn't know it. Screw something up so you HAVE to try again. What horrible punishment that would be having to go back to Disney on your birthday.

Oh indeed it was Brenda, but the REAL silver lining is all that is still to come. ;) (You would be a part of that in case that wasn't clear).

Bahaha, I remember that pic from the photos you sent me (and I totally forgot to thank you for that by the way). I guess I just got so excited seeing my Stacey that my mind blanked.

Actually I quite liked it, or at least I think I did, lol. I ate it while watching Stacey so it could have tasted like cardboard for all I know. It sure was cute though.

Wow Jenn, you are ambitious. Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. It really means a lot.

Haha, not too much info at all. I'm glad it made you laugh. That was the intent after all. Oh I know, I often wonder how many people you pass in the run of a day are on the DIS. Keep checking your pics, you never know. I'll be doing the same, especially if there is any park crossover. OMG that monorail shirt was so necessary. I am a HUGE monorail fan. I even have the "My other car is a monorail" sticker on my car.

Haha, sleeping guy was impressive, and I am totally stealing that for next time. I so wanted to make it to 10, but my hunger told me otherwise. I'll settle for 8 though.

I don't think it's weird at all. Honestly, you see pictures of these people and read their stories, so you recognize them but don't really know them. So it really is like seeing someway "famous". It's quite amazing.
One of the things I really wanted to do from joining DISboards was DISmeets, because it just sounded so cool. And this trip had a ton. The planned ones weren't awkward at all since I had been conversing with them outside of the boards as well. Well, you'll see.

Bahaha, ramble away!!!! Honestly I love it. Right!!?? Her head is HUGE!!!! The whole snow thing gets old quick, believe me. Ahh so excited for Cowboy!! Love Ariel, also completely necessary. LOVED seeing the Modern Family crew. Seriously Eric Stonestreet (Cam) is such a wonderful person. After taping he came over and thanked all of us onlookers for our patience and shook hands. Just really cool.

Yes, Wishes just represents everything I love about Disney, so I was so bummed to miss it. BUT the rest of the trip more than made up for it, so there is no complaining from me.

AND thank you on the Stacey shirt. That was also necessary.

Bummer about wishes! :( I'm glad you had more opportunities to see them though. I hope your next try turned out better. On the upside, at least Stacy was back! She couldn't miss your birthday, Rob. :) What a dreamy birthday you had. Yay!!

Thanks Jennifer, it was, but I promise my next try absolutely did turn out better. AND led to one of my fav nights in Disney. And yes, I was so happy to have Stacey back. Just perfect timing.

I am so sorry that you did not get to enjoy WISHES on Main Street. I am glad that you did not let it ruin a otherwise GREAT Birthday :)

I am so jealous that you got to see the Modern family taping. I am so in love with that show and would have died to see it.

Thanks!!!! In the moment it was rough, but thankfully I kept my eye on the bigger picture which was a wonderful day overall.

Haha, it was pretty cool. I didn't see a whole lot of it as they taped over a few days. But I did get to see the whole cast, so that was cool.

I am so sorry your plan of experiencing Wishes on your birthday night didn't happen. Aww thanks, it was utter chaos. There was just no way in without pushing and shoving, and I just can't do that. I should have just grabbed a spot in Fantasyland and whatnot since i have always wanted to watch behind the castle some time. But because it was my birthday, it was Main Street or bust. I can assure that the rest did indeed make up for that and then some, so all is good.

Guess who finally came out of hibernation GASP!!!!! I'm all caught up now I came to play catch up while Ry ry writes some commentary for my next installment of my TR cause ya know it's only been half a lifetime lol.Missing you n hoping you're well :D

Seriously, I am glad you're back on here and hopefully there won't be any more looooooooooong breaks. Miss you too and give that little Ry Ry a great big hug for me.

"ALL OUR DREAMS CAN COME TRUE
IF WE HAVE THE COURAGE TO PURSUE THEM"
Day 3 – December 5, 2013 Part 1

This was going to be a BIG day.
I had a lot of plans which would once again take me through three parks, culminating in a DISmeet I had been looking forward to for months.
I was also continuing on with my trip-long birthday celebration, AND it was also a VERY SPECIAL DAY for another reason.

I did a check on my shirt of the day,

00.jpg

Filled my Magic Mug with liquid caffeine (formally known as coffee), and sped off to park number one.
I arrived in the Magic Kingdom parking lot (or more precisely the TTC parking lot) in no time with a spot right up front.

01.jpg

You can’t get a whole lot closer than this when you're driving.

Arriving at the monorail station, there was one there waiting for me, and yeah… I guess the other people as well.
That’s ok people, I don’t mind sharing.

02.jpg

The ride around the lagoon was every bit as enjoyable as it was the very first time I ever did it, and every time since.
I’m also pretty sure I drive people crazy as I slide form one side to the other depending on what I want to photograph.

03.jpg

04.jpg

Double Mickey Ears!!!
I swear the wreath on the Contemporary may be the absolute best Christmas decoration in all the land.

05.jpg

06.jpg

Entry was quick, painless, and totally green, and before long I was back on Main Street USA, site of my Wishes debacle just one night before.
But… this was a new day with a fresh start and a Kingdom beckoning to be enjoyed.

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

The Main Street citizens had just finished up their song and dance as I move towards the hub.

12.jpg

13.jpg

Yes, I’ve already touched on how entering the Kingdom and walking Main Street never gets old, but today it was extra special.
I’ll get to that in a second; I had to get the mandatory castle photo first.
The castle area and stage were getting ready for the weekend’s parade taping, which would begin the next day.

14.jpg

But, there was no time to think about tomorrow, as there were a couple of things I needed to get done today, as in, RIGHT NOW!
So with crowds still low, I popped into Tomorrowland (ok, maybe I did have time to think about tomorrow… um… today… this is so confusing)
To take a ride through Space…

15.jpg

And honour a VERY SPECIAL PERSON on this VERY SPECIAL DAY.

16.jpg

Yes indeed, this was Walt Disney’s birthday, and I came prepared to celebrate it and him the best way I know how.

With Signs!!!

Shockingly, the photo booth CM’s had absolutely no idea of the significance of this day, which just made me sad.
And they were not the only clueless CM’s I encountered today, but thankfully, one beautiful CM redeemed them all… but that comes later.

I made my way to the other side of the park to complete my two part mission, pausing for some photos on the way.

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

Heading into Frontierland, I was almost where I needed to be.

Feels crowded…

Day 3 – December 5, 2013 Part 1 Continued

I finally arrived at my desired destination and my psychic abilities told me of a short wait in my future.

OK, this teeny clue may have also helped…

21.jpg

22.jpg

True to form, there was no wait at all, so I was soon in my log and sailing on what I consider the Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed,

23.jpg

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

28.jpg

30.jpg

31.jpg

And complete my end to end Magic Kingdom Mountain tribute to the man that started it all.

32.jpg

And once again, the CM’s were totally clueless. Disney really needs a better screening process is all I’m saying.
Simple questions like “When is Walt Disney’s birthday?” or “Do you know who Stacey is?”
Would really help weed out the undesirables.

Upon existing Splash, I came across some Frontierland friends, and I totally admit to fan-girling over Big Al like a preteen at a Bieber concert.

33.jpg

34.jpg

35.jpg

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

36.jpg

37.jpg

38.jpg

40.jpg

Yeah ok… I was stalking him.

On my way into Fantasyland, I watched Peter grow up and finally make an honest woman out of Wendy.
Never say Never… um… Land.

41.jpg

I also passed the Tangled washrooms which of course requires a photo.

42.jpg

I finally found myself at the closed for refurb Small World.

43.jpg

Yes friends, this was WAY more devastating than missing Wishes the night before. :rolleyes1

TO BE CONTINUED…

Rob, I just can't help but smile the whole way through your updates. You're just so upbeat and positive. :thumbsup2
Your pictures really capture the excitement of walking into Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning. Love it!
The Happy Birthday Walt signs are awesome, I can't believe all the CMs didn't know his birthday! Your idea for the CM screening questions sounds good to me.
No wait on Splash ftw!
No shame stalking Big Al. He rocks.
No Small World? :sad2: I would be really upset about that. I have such a soft spot for iasw, it's a sentimental favourite and it just wouldn't be a Disney trip without it for me!

(p.s. -- heading your way Saturday for a day trip! Have to get some retail therapy in!!)

OHHHH YAY for me catching up on TRs. I'm just working my way through!

I still have a bunch to get through but, yeah, at least it's a start.

ANYWAY. HOORAY FOR A DISMEET! That's always fun! Mine was with my friend Rachel who is near and dear to me... and we ate Dole Whips and went on Pirates. It was the best. And now, I've run into many different DISers, which is awesome.

HAHA is it wrong for me to admit I laughed at the Adult Stacey? Though it's SO WRONG.

I WANT SNOW! We have had such a lack of it this winter in the PNW and it's driving me crazy... but I doubt at this point that we'll see any, wompwomp.

I love that you chose to eat chicken nuggets over seafood because you'd just met Ariel, hahahhaa. But those chicken nugs are the best, so I can't argue.

I've yet to see Cinderella Castle with the Christmas lights yet. Only Sleeping Beauty. I don't know when I will see it in WDW though because we LOVE going to Disneyland during Christmas so much! It's a quicker and easier (and less expensive) trip for us, so yeah, it's kind of hard. But Cinderella Castle IS absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure one day we'll make it there though!

Your issues with all of the people remind me of our issues we had in Disneyland with the crazy amounts of people waiting for the Christmas parade. Let's just say we found ourselves running all over because they had EVERYTHING roped off. It was a weebit annoying... and stressful. Plus cutting across the street during the parade... Crowds in Disney parks are not my favorite, so if I'd been in your position I'd probably have run away, hahaha.

It's always a mega bummer when things don't work out in Disney, so I'm sorry that happened to you. But I have a suspicion that you'll get to see it here soon.. Plus, now you have a reason to go back during your birthday, right?!

SPLASH MOUNTAIN. My favorite... and I am DETERMINED to one day meet Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear. Determined. But I always just miss out. Wompwomp. One day I will!

Rob, you in front of the closed Small World brings a tear to my eye :sad1:

:rotfl2: I bet you were like "best trip to the Magic Kingdom, ever!"

Oh, btw, I was thinking about our last trip and came up with a really easy way for you to do "CM's around the world" next time. We took passports for our girls and stopped at all of the Kidcot stations, which were staffed by the real deal CM's from other countries. Easy peazy, dude. :thumbsup2

(Plus, they were all pretty easy on the eyes) :cool2:

Looking forward to the next update!

Those signs were perfect!

I have to say that I don't think it is a coincidence that your birthday and Walt's birthday are so close.

Teresa

That is so crazy that no one knew it was Walt's birthday....do they even know who he is? Good grief people that is a bit sad.

Splash Mountain first thing in the morning in December, very brave of you! I rode only one time this December and got soaked.....the water seemed more abundant then in past trips did you notice that or was it just me? BTW ummm the country bear characters are creepy and I will probably have nightmares now because of your post. LOL!

I saw your planned shirt for the day and the first thing I thought was "oh no he did not know about the rehab!" Poor Rob. This is one of my DD favorite rides and I freaked a little when I saw it was going to be down in December, until I noticed that it would be open on our last day. That stinks though...sorry that you missed that boo...hiss!

UUURRGHH STTTAAAAHHHPPP with that title #uglycry

Man I really need to start taking more pictures from the monorail! Yours are great!! Uhm…that girl in the front of space looks like she’s legit dying, like the ride hasn’t even started yet….WHOOPS

Also, like *** cast members, how do so many of them not know when it’s Walt’s birthday? Well, I guess that kidna makes sense, Steven said that yesterday no one had wished Aurora a “happy birthday” and she was super excited once he did…guess people aren’t up to par with their Disney knowledge?

Aahaha oh you just love big al, hey? That frontierland hoedown is just the weirdest thing, a friend that’s in it said I’m not missing much by having never seen it, but like, what even is it?! Lol

Wait, what the heck Peter, you’re not supposed to like Wendy all that much…. Also that was the best friend of peter that steven & I met all that week, and we met like, 6….

BAHAHA

….my only reaction to that closing picture….

#perf

How can anyone be in Disney or even work for Disney and not know that that day was his birthday! This is why I should work in Disneyworld….sigh…if only

Also That's so cool to see the Country Bears all walking about! I don't think I've ever seen that happen.

Hahahahaha at the Small world refurb being closed…another huge disappointment on this birthday trip…man you can't catch a break.. :lmao:
