Should we plan on doing this? I know it's the hot attraction in MK right now, but I don't want to waste one of our precious 3 FP+ for something that my son thinks is too girly. Opinions?

I would ask your son and see if he's interested in it.

I asked him if he had ever seen "Beauty and the Beast" because I knew we had never watched it here. He said he saw it on Disney channel once. I asked him if he liked it. He said, "Yeah, it was okay."

I'll try to explain the attraction to him later to gauge his reaction.

You could ask him. At 7, I guess I would trust his opinion.

There are videos of it on youtube, so you both can preview it and decided from there.

The special effects are pretty cool- the mirror, the wardrobe and Lumere are all pretty neat, so it may be something he might want to see in person.

Its an interactive show, they pick people from the audience and then put on a show. its cute and fun, but interactive shows aren't for everyone. The people who get picked, get to have their photos taken with Belle. They picked me to be a guard and my son to be a dish. They asked if there was anyone else who wanted parts, so they have enough parts for the kids, but the adults mostly watch.

IDK, we liked it, but 7 year olds can be tough. I would just watch part of the video and see what he says. I would not wait for hours for it, so I would either use a FP for it, or skip it personally.

I entirely agree! We went last year with our boys, now ages 7, 13 and 14. They all wanted to go - our older boys were interested to see what it's all about, and our then-6-year-old REALLY wanted to be the Beast. He was even practicing his roar for the casting process! They all loved it - so well themed and well done - tons of fun. Our two older boys took parts as picture frames, and the CM selected our youngest to play the Beast. (Although we had also practiced an appropriate reaction in case he was not selected to play the Beast, just in case!) But I wouldn't have included it on our itinerary if they weren't interested because it took up a good amount of valuable rope drop time.

As much as they enjoyed it, we don't plan to return. It was great to see once, but now it would take up either one of three FP+ or, again, valuable rope drop time.

If you son likes to participate in shows - if he likes to act or is any kind of ham - he will really enjoy it.

Last summer, my seven year old boy was Maurice our first time through and Chip the second time. (Yes - he liked it so much the first time, he asked to go back so he could try a different part.)

If your son is shy or wouldn't want to get up front and play a part, he probably wouldn't like it so much.

We went in December and my 7 year old son loved it! He was chosen to be the beast, and it was so fun and touching. He was so cute dancing with Belle! I didn't ask him before if he wanted to go, I just told him it was a fun new show that I was excited to see. We had a FP+ for just after lunch at Be Our Guest and it worked perfectly. We loved the special effects too.

I would show him a YouTube video of it. See what he thinks. I do this anytime I am unsure if my kids would enjoy something. There are boy parts and he might get to play the beast or a guard/knight.

My ds8 and ds5 both really enjoyed it and played parts in the show. Another way to gauge is to see if you son would like to see princesses. If he doesn't have any interest in princesses, then maybe no. My ds8 was excited to get attention from a princess :). My ds5 was shy about it, but still enjoyed it.

I showed him a YouTube video. He wasn't impressed. I guess we'll skip that one.

My 7 year old son complained about having to do it, but admitted to liking it afterwards.

DS 13 and DS10 went because DD9 insisted. They ended up liking it well enough. It is beautiful inside and there are some cool effects. They liked watching DD play the beast in the interactive portion. All in all it was worth it for us.

We took our 4 year old nephew last week and he would not participate. We found out after that he thought it was too girly and he refused to do anything related to princesses after that. I was surprised that he would feel that way at his age so I guess every child is different.

While it's not something that necessarily needs to be done more than once, at least not for me, I definitely recommend trying it at least once. I did and I was even picked for the show lol

Even if only for the walk-through to see the details and mirror, Wardrobe & Lumiere. However make sure it's all working, especially Wardrobe...she was down a lot when we were there last year.

Actually, kids at this age seem really gender conscious. I think they are really figuring out their identity and start paying attention to the fact that there are different bathrooms. DS had always loved his Mommy best but at about that age, he decided he was a boy like Daddy and deserted me. Now, he's 8 and I'm his favorite girl.

I went back and forth with this same question. I have a 7 year old son too, but he has ADHD and ASD so I wasn't sure if this would be something for him. When we went 2 years ago we saw a ton of shows at HS and he was good for all of them except for beauty and the beast, lol. So we decided to get a fast pass to Small World instead. I might try and change it when we get there or if my son is able to obtain a DAS and he really wants to do it than hopefully we can do it that way. Other than that though I am not going to wait hours to get into that attraction. Its just not high on our priority list.
