Enchanted Garden Embarkation Lunch

Ok got it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Funny thing on the crew and removing the ropes thing, if you watch the Miami Port you can hear audio too, and one of them sounded like communications from the bridge of one of the ships and at departure time you could hear over the radio 'get that damned bow rope off now'. Then some comment after about causing too much rope tension or something I couldn't make out.
And, of course, there's the port CMs waving us off with their big Mickey hands:

They look more enthusiastic for the Fantasy.
Part of that might be the angle. Looking down on them makes them (the Dream one) look slouchy (is that a word?). And the Fantasy cruise we were a little late in leaving, due to late arriving luggage. Maybe they were happy we were finally out of their hair.

Was the lower angle one taken from deck 4?

Yes. Since we were late leaving, we were walking around the ship. We found leaning over the rail on deck 4 gave us the best view of the late arriving bags. And we just stayed there, since it was covered, and I don't do sun well.

That is a good idea though. I know for the sail away party etc that most people's attention is up on deck 11, but you probably get a better 'feel' for the whole departure operation down on 4.

I am not a picky eater but I do expect more from a lunch menu after paying what I have paid for the cruise. Very disappointed indeed. We also prefer the quieter buffet at the MDR. Now I have to fight for a table at the Cabanas Buffet?! :scared1: We have late seating for dinner and would not want to skip lunch. We would ride Aquaduck then go to our room and order room service instead. :rolleyes2

I saw the note on the DCL blog about the sit down lunch on the Dream. I can confirm that it was also a menu on the Fantasy when we departed last week.

Interesting. When we cruised on the Dream last month we went to Enchanted Garden for lunch and there was a nice buffet set up. It was such a relaxing way to start off our cruise! We were able to order chicken fingers and mac and cheese for the kids but my dh and I had no problem finding lots of yummy choices from the buffet. Then our amazing server brought over two of each dessert for us since the line was long and he didn't want us to have to wait! :goodvibes I'll have to take a peek at the menu before we cruise the Fantasy next year to make an informed decision! We actually didn't eat at Cabana's at all during our 4-night Dream cruise.

Ugh, I don't like that it's sit down. Those who don't like the change should make sure to note it in your comments at the end of the cruise.

Count me as one thrilled with the change. I do not like buffets for sanitary reasons.

Now if only the MDR option was changed to Royal Court on the Fantasy so there was no need to wait in the massive crowd by the elevators on embarkation. Not easy with a wheelchair or even just with carryons.

/\ exactlly! Glad i saw this thread, will plan accordingly and hope to board early.

Since it's now a sit down, menu service in the MDR, I'm guessing you don't know who your serving team is? Since you won't be in your room yet to get your table number. How does that work?

You're seated at a random table and served by whichever server is assigned to lunch that day. It's just like Cabanas which is also staffed by mdr servers.

Yep. Just like any other breakfast or lunch in one of the MDRs.

Which is no change from the process when Enchanted Garden served a buffet for embarkation lunch. You will be asked your room number and then seated.
