I have a family of five and we're staying here at the Encantada Resort.

I have a 20 year old DD, a 15 year old DS and an 11 year old DS.
Has anyone stayed here yet?
If so, can you tell me how you liked it and what kind of activities there are for the older kids to do in that area?
We plan to go to several parks already, but I'm thinking we might want at least one day where we can just be lazy and chill near the condo.
What is near where we are staying?

I know they seem like silly questions, but this is my first time actually renting a big place like this as opposed to a hotel in Orlando and I want this to be the best trip ever for the family.

Hi! Although we have neve stayed there we did visit the development on our last trip. Very nice community pool and clubhouse that seemed to have things to do. Also, each townhouse had an small pool attached to the unit. Nearby there is a citrus grove called Showcase of citrus and they allow pick your own fruit when it is in season. (winter months) fun if you have never had the experience before and very delicious! 192 is loaded with resturants and tourist things like minature golf. We also like to visit the Disney properties and maybe have lunch or a snack. Boardwalk and Beachclub would probably be nice for your kids ages. Check with the Kissimmee and Orlando tourist boards for additional suggestions. Have fun! Grammy

Thanks for your reply.
Just last night, we decided that after watching a few travel channel shows and reading some of the books, along with this messageboard, that we're going to leave them on their own one evening and take advantage of some of the more adult places within WDW.
Knowing that there is plenty for them to do in that area just makes that decision much easier.

Hi:
Is this the new development (last three year's) located near Summer Bay Resort? Or is it on the same road as ShowCase of Citrus??? I seem to remember something being built where Raccoon Lake Campground was.

We are also trying to decide on this one. Can anyone use the community pool? I don't think I want to stay secluded in my own backyard on vacation.

It is quite a hike from Disney though!

Thanks.

Michelle

I was told that if you rent from this resort, that the pools and all other amenities are there for you and your family to use as much as you want. I love the idea of my 20 year old dd being able to take the younger kids to the resort pool while my dbf and I can relax with a glass of wine or a beer in the private splash pool.
I'm not sure of the exact location because I was unable to get the address to show up on mapquest.
We got a really good deal through vrbo.
Here is the link to the people we booked through:

We'll be there in July and I'll give you a nice little report on how we liked it when i return.

If you're talking about Encantada, it's basically in the Formosa Gardens area. There's a road just past (west of) Formosa Gardens Blvd on 192 called Secret Lake Rd. Encantada is down there. There's a big mini golf course between 192 mile markers 6 and 5. It's either Jungle Golf or Pirate Golf ???
Map:http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map.php
Scroll through and pick out Encantada down in the right corner and the map will zoom in. Secret Lake Rd isn't shown on this map but it would come down between the words "Grand" and "Palms".
Encantada would be about 7 or 8 min to Disney AK using Sherberth Rd.

This area is where the old Secret Lake Campground was. In fact when we visited last Feb you could still see some of the sites in the back. The community pool looked really nice. As noted by Sympatico, this isnt really that far down 192. I wonder if you could get to WDW through the new road (417?) If the traffic on 192 was backed up? Grammy

The highway is 429 and you probably could, the access is in that Orange Lake area.

Hi, All the facilities at Encantada are free to use by all guests. The Club house and pools looked amazing. The staff were very friendly too. Cheers
