Hi fellow Disneyholics! I just had to join the fun as I have been reading this board for a while now and it's wonderful finding other folks that love Disney like I do. My Peeps! Anyway, so I just had to join y'all. I am not very computer literate besides point and click, so I still haven't figured out where to paste so my countdown ticker will work, I'll get to that after saying "HI". So, I have finally convinced my dear husband to take me to my favoritest happy place ever, WDW. We are empty nesters now for a few weeks and celebrating our 1oth anniversary on our trip. (That was the how I got the trip to WDW, the anniversary, since he gave me a huge stuffed Tigger on our very first date, I thought he should take me to meet Tigger himself in person) I've been twice to WDW but the last time was 13 years ago (before AK opened) and DH has never been and isn't much into Disney, other than having been exposed to the Sunday nights that American families spent with Walt on TV in the sixties and seventies. Back to my question though... So, other than Cava del Tequila at Epcot and the Lapu Lapu at Poly, I need some ideas on where to get some fabulous signature drinks in WDW. DH loves margaritas and beer, I love girly drinks like Hurricane's, MaiTai's, and rum based drinks. Anyone have a great must have drink for me? Or don't miss location? I thought we'd get drinks to go and watch fireworks from the beach at Poly one evening. A dinner at Contemporary to watch Wishes while dining is outside of our budget. It's taken me ten years to get this trip so I want it to be really special :) Especially for DH so he'll be hooked on Disney too, or at least want to go back a lot. Yay! I still can't believe I"m going to Disneyworld! :yay:

:yay:Welcome:yay:
I'm not sure about "Signature" drinks,:confused3 but in France at Epcot, My DW and I always like to Watch Iluminations while enjoying a Grey Goose Citron slush:drinking1. They also have Grand Marnier slush.
Happy Anniversary, DW and I are also celebrating our 10th this year.

:welcome: Be sure to check out our Adults and Solos Board here for more great information. :)

I will agree with the previous poster and say my two favorite adult drinks at WDW are in Epcot: the Grand Marnier & Grey Goose slushies.
I am a margarita fan, too and I think the 'ritas in Mexico are blah. But the poolside Margs at the Coronado Springs resort are to die for!

Epcot seems to have the most plentiful of adult beverage selections. My husband is fond of all the different kinds of beers--specifically the big Steins you can get in Germany at the Biergarten.

Oh, and WELCOME:cheer2: Your life will never be the same now that you have found the Dis.

Add another vote for the Grey Goose Citron slush - it is on of the few "must get" items for me on every trip

The Grand Marnier Slush in France (Epcot) is my second favorite beverage at WDW...my favorite is the Island Sunset at the Poly. I always have to have a little quality time at the Tambu Lounge with a couple of these beauties!

I will have to agree with my significant other...The Yak Attack at Animal Kingdom gets my vote:)

I put a vote in for the Morrocarita in Morroco or the Italian Margarita in Italy in EPCOT. Another one that is good is the Poolside Lemonade. We have had them at both Saratoga Springs Pool Bar and The Port Orleans French Quarter Pool Bar, but the bartenders at any Disney bar should be able to make one. Tastes and looks like pink lemonade.

First, a word of caution: Cocktails at WDW will break the budget pretty quickly to be honest. Some easily top the $8 mark.

An inexpensive altenative is to buy beer in the resort gift shops. Some also stock wine and liquors. I haven't looked lately, but a few years ago WDW had a special wine for YoMD promo. In restaurants the wine was pricely, but was more reasonable in the gify shops. I'm not sure if they currently have any special wines, but that's one idea.

Another is if you are going in the next few weeks (months) - the Food and Wine Festival will be going on. Sometimes they have free samples. I recall an Australia one a few years ago to promo Aussie wines, and Sam Adams usually sponsors a show on their beer with free samples (or maybe ther's small fee, but wrothwhile). The festival also has all kinds of booths, and mostly all have some kind of alcohol. they are often small in size and interesting things to sample. The F&W is least crowded on weeknights. On weekends it's very popular with locals.

Otherwise, I like AK and AKL's safris Amber beer. I think it's actually made by a big brewer, but it'sa special brew.

Don't recall the names of drinks, but the little bar in a hut on the beach at the Poly had some fun drinks! We tried different ones each night. They ran around $7 each but I had stashed a few dollars in an envelope each week for several months before we went to Disney. Made it hurt a bit less not seeing those drinks on our charge slip when we got home!

I have not done it myself but I met a group at he England pub that had a drink arround the world. They had a drink at each country in the Word Showcase.

We've done WDW since 1977, and with 43 trips under our belts...here's my take on Disney alcohol......I know it's real easy to pop over to the pool bar and charge a mixed drink to your room, have alot of beers at Jellyrolls or tour and drink about the world but it's very costly. Mixed drinks are over 9.50 a pop, and beers at 5.00+ a bottle domestic. In our earlier trips we didn't know better and had a few drinks and learned our lesson ( more likely my lesson) I'm not cheap but I'm not going to pay Disney's prices for their booze. Seeing you want your husband to enjoy himself, sticker shock after a trip for bar cocktails might just scare him away. Our remedy to the situation (and makes me a happy camper) is hitting the grocery store and liquor store before arriving and setting up our own bar. Our room is laid out....we take a cooler to the pool and have beer, wine and alcohol any time we want. I know it's not the same as buying a drink in the parks etc, or lounge hoping but we get our fill at lunch time, pool picnics and late night caps at the pool. I may be a prude, but we try to keep the trips down to a good price so we can return year after year. Just my 2 cents and it may convince hubby to return if he has his own brand and supply at fingertips.

My favorite was the Welsh Dragon. It's at the Pub in the UK in Epcot.

I should tell you that I hated the Lapu Lapu. It tastes like only rum. I only like drinks where you can't taste the alcohol and this was nothing but! It was a waste at $12 each!

Thanks a millions to everyone for all the wonderful tips and welcomes! I figured the average drink would be around $9, and have budgeted accordingly. We will be there for the first 2 days of the F&W festival at Epcot, so YAY! I'm going to have to add your tips to my notebook.
