Employment with Disney

Every once in a while I peruse the Disney careers website to see what's new and interesting. Lots of opportunities in Hawaii are popping up. I think it's interesting that for some, you are required to speak Japanese.

So who's applying? ;)

I'm guessing you haven't been to Hawaii?

I think in some ways it is interesting how many Japanese travel there for a tropical vacation. I belive that while it is far from Japan after world war II the US is more welcoming to the Japanese than coutries like the Philipines that Japan invaded and destroyed.

Japan of course in the 80's had a rising economy and invested in the US a lot and, though this is hyperbolic, probably owned half of Hawaii. So it is common to find Japanese laungauge and customs there. The Mcdonalds serve rice in place of fries for example.

Sadly, no I haven't been, yet. But am looking forward to using our DVC points there someday. :thumbsup2

If I have another day like yesterday, I could be hosting the first DIS meet in HI.

Yeah, i was surprised about just how many Japanese tourists there were. Everything there is in English and Japanese.

wouldn't it be nice to work at the HI DVC resort! talk about a dream job!

Perfect vacation for Corey -- Sushi bars on every corner! Obviously the latest addition to the DVC family is going to be marketed very heavily to visitors from Japan. DVC yens for the yen! :)

I can speak Japanese!!!!!
I learned to speak Japanese when i was at UCLA for my English Language course (yes, i also learned English)....
But with the Japanese words they learned me, i can say hi, welcome and i can curse in Japanese. I don't think that Disney would like me to curse to the Japanese people.........
