Empire of the Penguin only open weekends?

Why is this the case?

I'm hoping that since I'll be there during the peak week between Xmas and NYE it will be open daily....

Not sure. Personally I enjoyed the penguins themselves more than the ride. Our first day (last Wed) we walked right in to the non-rider line and saw the penguins. Sat we got to the park at open (9:00) and made our way to Antarctica for a 2 minute wait until the ride opened (10am). It was ok, I wouldn't want to wait much longer for the ride part though. To me it wasn't that great of a ride.

The penguins are really cool (and cold) though!

We were there Monday/Tuesday last week - and pretty much planned this trip for my son who is obsessed with Penguins. We were SOOOO bummed to go straight to Antartica and find it was closed. They told us it was temp maintenance and would be up on Wednesday - now I see that was probably incorrect and it was coming up Wed because crowds would be increasing for Thanksgiving. We were already planning Aquatica Wed as it was also closed Mon, Tues so didn't make it on the ride. He was super happy to see the penguin in the exhibit though.

Does anyone know if Friday is considered the weekend or just Saturday and Sunday?
