EMM obsession...anyone else doing both?

Want to do both, but I have immovable adr plans on the only day DHS is an option. Sigh.

We love EMM, have done MK one multiple times.

omg yes! great thread, i thought i was crazy! emm mk and dhs and mvmcp in november. we don't repeat big rides over and over and over and we don't ride tot or rnrc as a rd strategy or star tours. or sdmt. twice at the most will be enough probably for sk and sdmt! so i have no idea why we're doing this just sounds different and we never tried it. for dessert parties we did two but we don't drink alcohol and don't consume so much dessert in one sitting. so we are trying emm mk then emmdhs popped up! i thought i was crazy for doing two! And i don't have small children to explain the reason either!! Just always love a quieter park i guess any opportunity to not be over crowded and try something different. and i'm vegetarian so the breakfast will not be fried chicken for me! haha. i have no rd strategy , no. and staying at pop so yes, lowered hotel cost this trip when last year stayed at wl so probably now even ! i guess i'll have more time now to try the new disney springs restaurants and go back and forth (usually i only do it once a trip because the buses take forever). great thread....

Thought I’d find out if there are any other EMM crazies out there! We did the MK EMM last year in May and it was one of the highlights of our trip. So, naturally, we booked it again for our upcoming trip. Upon learning about the DHS EMM yesterday, I immediately booked that, too. So, we will be spending the first 2 mornings of our trip at EMM!

The early events work well for my family. We have one child, who is almost 3 years old. He’s an early riser, and we don’t stay in the parks past dinner time. He does best maintaining his bedtime routine and schedule from home, so things like MNSSHP just don’t work well for us right now. I think he’s over 38 inches, so hoping he will be able to ride 7 Dwarves and Slinky if he wants.

I’m really looking forward to these EMM events!

We would have done this if both were running during our trip.

Yes, booked the TSL one...we have Fantasyland one the day before and have done that EMM before and love it. Not sure if we're actually going to keep the Toy Story one yet or not, but thought we better book it in case our date sells out. Problem is, with park days already scheduled, we have some ADR's that are going to be very tough to move. We have to switch 2 days to make the EMM work and I just don't know if it is doable at this point! This comes after already having to switch multiple park days because of our MK EMM being canceled on our booked day. If I move these days to accomodate this EMM, I will have literally moved every park day on our trip...because of EMM! I just wish they would start bringing out these dates at 180 days. It is really difficult for all us planners to constantly be changing park days when we have the perfect ADR's.

Did you actually get your ADR's moved or just bag them? I'm in the same boat...see above comment. My kids said if we can't get the 1 ADR moved, that's their favorite, then they'd rather just keep things the way they are and not do the EMM. I get it.

We’ve done EMM 4 times at MK and the Previous short lived version at HS once. We are oooking forward to trying the new HS version in October. EMM is one of my favorite things I’ve done at Disney world.

I was fortunate that my October EMM date was not one that was canceled. And I’d already dumped a few ADRs that we decided we didn’t want to do. Doing the DHS EMM did force me to move my Epcot day to a day with early EMH, which I don’t love, but we’ll probably be up early anyway. I had to either switch my Epcot day or my AK day and I already had a Tusker lunch and FOP FP at AK, so I thought switching to an EMH day at Epcot was probably the lesser of 2 evils. I could easily rebook the Epcot FPs and we didn’t have any ADRs for that park.

I have a few questions about HS EMM.... do you guys eat the breakfast??? We have DDP... and ADR at 11 at GF.. I dont want to cancel if possible... is it still worth it if you dont eat the breakfast??
Also- we will have our car.. think it makes more sense for us to drive to HS and then to GF?
My son is only 2, but a HUGE toy story fan.. to meet the characters and do both alien and mania without burning fastpass seems so worth it to me!! Thanks in advance!

So, both my hubby and I follow a ketogenic diet. As the breakfast looks right now, we will probably skip breakfast. However, we do think this is worth it. We went on Saturday for the first time to the toy story land and got there at 8:30 AM. It took us a full hour to do the meet and greets. We also have a 2 year old. For us, I find value in not having to wait in line and being able to ride multiple times. We also don’t know if he will be tall enough to ride slinky dog Dash. This event will allow us to do switch very easily with other parent riding aliens with our toddler.
With your ADR, I do suggest driving there so you do not have to rely on Disney transportation.

THANK YOU!!!!! We are doing a fireworks party a few nights earlier and I was trying to justify us not doing the EMM.. but it just makes sense! We aren't doing MVMCP so the HEA party and this will make up for it!

Sadly, we had to bag our 8:05 Akershus which is a favorite of mine (adult only trip and I have three boys so it is becoming a harder sell when they are along). The only other thing I can’t move is our RRC FP, everything else worked.

I wish Disney would add these things in a more timely fashion so it wouldn’t throw these carefully made plans we made at 180 days awry. Good luck deciding and/or moving!

We will have our car and have decided to drive. The fewer variables to worry about that early in the morning, the better IMO! This was a late add on to our Oct trip and we're trying to make it back to MK by 11:00 am for the FP's we have booked, so having our own transportation may help the timing on the back end as well.
