EMM and how it affects crowds

We booked our ADR's and are planning on MK on a day that I just found out offers EMM. Should I rearrange all our plans to avoid this event? How much of an impact does it have with rope drop and getting some rides done?

Agree with PP 100%.

A bonus, morning park hours are guaranteed not to change on an EMM day.... so you can plan dining/FPs without any risk of hours changing later.

We have gone to the EMM event two times now, and didn't see any impact on park crowds from the EMM event. As PP mentioned too, it is guaranteed that they won't suddenly decide to open the park at 8 that morning, so you can be confident when making ADR's, especially if you are doing a PPO meal.

Thank you! I was nervous wondering how I was going to reorganize our plans, so I'm glad that's not an issue. I would love a PPO for BOG for that morning, but I haven't had any luck yet.

On EMM mornings, the PPO BOG is less of an advantage. They won’t usually let you ride on 7DMT until later than on a day without EMM. We had a PPO breakfast there in a non-EMM day and got 2 rides on mine train and were in line for Peter Pan when the rope drop people got there.
On EMM mornings they hold you in line, so you usually only get 1 ride as the crowds get there. But you will be there ahead of the larger crowd.

Yes, this is true. I often forget that people book PPO for that purpose. When we book PPO, it is just for the meal, with the expectation that we will get done eating, and wander out of the restaurant just as the park is opening, and that is fine. It stinks on ice when they decide to open the park an hour earlier, and we wander out of breakfast to a park that already has an hours worth of crowds in it, and long lines for everything. An EMM morning, would at least guarantee that will not happen.

I've done EMM (several times-love it!) as well as a few PPO breakfasts at BOG on an EMM day. In my experience EMM had zero impact on overall crowds. You won't be allowed on Mine Train, Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh before the park opens but you will have a slight advantage since you'll still be ahead of the masses. I was able to ride Mine Train with no wait and Peter Pan with a 10 minute or so wait at opening after an 8:05 ADR at BOG on an EMM morning last August.

I always try for a PPO at BOG if I'm planning on a rope drop that day. I like it even if I can't do rerides on Mine Train before rope drop because you skip the rope drop hordes. I usually get the kids meals unless I'm on the Dining Plan.

Thank you for this info! I'm hoping to get a PPO for BoG, so I'm going to keep trying for that. I like the photos near the castle without hoards of people. It doesn't even have to be on Main St, but somewhere without tons of people.

I took a few pix while I walked over to Be Our Guest. I was at the front of the tapstiles and very near the entrance at the train station. IMG_2318.JPGIMG_2319.JPGIMG_2320.JPGIMG_2327.JPGIMG_2328.JPG
