EMH, do you take advantage of them, do you avoid that park, what are your thoughts??

We're a rope drop family, and we get parkhoppers.

So, in the past, we would typically do the AM EMH, and stay till about lunch. Then we head back to the resort, swim for a few hours (we're both teachers, so we only go in summer.) Then we would hop to another park.

But this trip will be a family reunion, and not all are morning people. So we'll skip the EMH AM park, and get to the PM park at rope drop. We'll still do the mid day break, then probably head back to the same park, in the hopes that the extended family can all stay in the same park until my kids poop out.

Or at least that's the plan today...

We are a rope drop family so we always do the morning EMH park. We would typically park hop later in the day. However, this trip we only have 1 day at each park and combined with no more paper fastpasses, we're changing our strategy a little. We're still panning to take advantage of the EMH park, but will stay there all day. Planning to do fastpass+ reservations for later in the day. That way we'll get to do some headliners twice. Hopefully it will work out!

We don't typically plan on them. DH has a hard enough committing to get up for Rope Drop, so an hour earlier wouldn't happen.

We did the evening ones once or twice before we had kids, but now we try to keep bedtime fairly regular, even on vacation, so we avoid those too.

We still take breaks every day, and have found that Rope Drop and some late afternoon/early evening touring is sufficient for us.

We are planning on doing a morning EMH at the Magic Kingdom on our upcoming May trip. The Unofficial Guide said that you can get more done in this hour than 4 hours later in the afternoon because there are so many more attractions open during EMH at the MK. We don't have any problem getting there for morning EMH times. I think that the evening EMH hours can be a terrific waste of time as the crowds are already there. We used to do MK E-Ride nights for a fee and that was great. Also, they have cut the evening EMH times from 3 hours to two hours.

We specifically pick the parks with evening EMH. We are not a rope drop family and getting my family up before 8:00 on vacation is like herding cats. We love being in the parks at night!

I'm at a park open-close. I go to morning EMH and I stay for evening EMH.

We have never really utilized Emh before but are thinking of trying it this trip. I may end up doing evening Emh on our first park day and using some of your strategies. Thanks!:cool1:

when planning a trip with my family (3 little kids) I avoid EMH parks...I find the extra hour in the AM isn't really much, and the hour of extra sleep is more important...

now, with my girlfriend...on our "mommy trip" we park hop and take advantage of LATE night EMH...

SO, it depends on the trip...I guess :)

We can get more done in the first hour (or two) on an EMH morning than
at any other like amount of time at the parks.

Well our opinions have changed a bit as my son became a teenager. We used to to every AM EMH. We would get a lot done but now I can not get him up early enough so we now avoid AM EMH parks. We do still try to make as close to rope drop as possible but that extra hour of sleep with a teenager is worth it. You can try both ways and see what works best for your family.

We adore the parks at night. So we *always* got for Evening EMH. But always avoid parks that have early EMH as we feel those parks get more crowded that day.

We plan our whole vacation around evening EMHs though.

We prefer the low crowd parks rather than the high crowd parks. More relaxing, efficient. For us, it's more a vacation time rather than a mission.

We normally do the evening EMH. My kids can only stay up really late at Disney. It's great you can walk up to the rides, the parks are empty. It's wonderful.
One year we attended the dance party at HS at the Disney Jr. area, my kids loved it. They danced with so many characters.
