EMH - why does Disney make them difficult?

We hardly ever go to the morning hours, but we love the late nights! Our DD-6 loves staying in the parks late. In May she was thrilled to be in MK until 3:00AM. I agree though that there are not enough food stands open.

because of the large amount of resort guests, who all are funneled into whichever park has it that nite,the only way to make EMH's work is to do it for all the parks on the same nite. maybe twice a week. this would spread the resort guests out and make it function the way it is supposed to. it would also work in the morning so that the early park is not ruined for the whole day which it is because if resort guests go there in the morning they are most likely going to stay for the day, now add the day guests and you have gridlock.

My family & I have only done EMH in the mornings & have no complaints about it. We don't mind the fact that not every attraction is open when Resort guests are allowed in the parks, because we still get to go on 3-4 rides before 9:00 AM which is a great thing. I love being able to walk on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin as Tomorrowland opens because it's on of my favorite attractions & to walk on it 2 times in row without waiting is great, because by 11:00 AM the lines get much longer.

We've had the same experience.

I believe we did two MGM EMH mornings during our last spring break trip.

As soon as we enter the park, I grab a FP for TOT then we hop in the stand by line. Once the ride is over we head to RNRC and hop in the stand by line. When that ride is over, we grab a RNRC FP then head to TOT to use the first FP. After our second TOT ride, we use the RNRC FP before heading off to the other side of the park.

We've never had a problem getting at least 4 rides in on TOT and RNCR during EMH.

At Epcot we can get at least 3 rides in on TT and 2 on Mission Space during morning EMH.

At MK we can complete fantasyland and get in at least 2 rides on Space Mountain before rushing over to Splash and BTMR.

We love EMH!!

To the people who said they wish WDW would bring back the E-Ride nights, I don't see this happening. I know the cost for this was only $12.00 which sounds like a minor fee, which it is. However how does WDW justify getting rid of EMH which is free as long as your a Walt Disney World Resort guest. I know some of you may say it's better to pay the $12.00, then to pay whatever your paying at your Resort for the privilege because it's more expensive, however in my opinion once you give people an option that does not cost any extra they would rather have it that way then the old E-Ride night. Besides if some attractions are not open in the evening & let's say your at the park all day that is doing evening EMH, wouldn't you have went on the attractions earlier in the day & going on the ones that are open during EMH would be a bonus, because the wait would be minimal?

WE LOVE EMH! we usually only do the evening, but if we are up, we've done some AM too! We NEVER have found lines and enjoy the rides that are available.

I loved e-nights. Though I don't remember it being by resprt . . . we had no idea they were doing it, and just saw a little table in Adventureland one night. We asked what it was about and were told that for $12 we could stay, but they never asked what resort we were at. i swear there were only 50 of us in the whole park that night . . . .

I've never had a problem with morning EMH, and have never tried an evening EMH on purpose (we just made it a habit to go to epcot at night our last trip regardless). We're going to try MK night EMH this time and just hope we can at least move, and be prepared to go to DTD if its just not worth it. slow time of year though, so we'll hope for the best.

I guess my take on EMHs is completely different than others. I don't look at it as a time when the parks will be empty. I look at EMHs as extended hours for resort guests as a thank you for staying on site. With 4 theme parks, 2 waterparks, and many recreation/entertainment options, there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day to get stuff done. However, with the addition of Evening Magic Hours in particular, it gives me more flexibility when planning out my vacation. We can now fit in a nap in the afternoon knowing the the MK is open an additional few hours on selected nights. It may mean only 2-3 additional rides, but it also means much needed downtime/pool time in the afternoon.

Obviously Disney has found that it is more profitable to have EMH's rather than E-nights. IF that weren't the case, you can be assured they would change it back!!! E-nights were not done by resorts...it was just MK. But since you had to pay for the privilege of staying in MK, there were a lot of people that didn't go...so, it was not as congested.
Now, since it's free to all resort guests, it is more crowded. I make the choice to go or not go. Of course it isn't truly 'free'...somehow those addtl. CMs have to be paid. So.....one could think that perhaps the park hours have been slowly changing to an earlier closing, so that we 'think' we are getting something special. True? Don't know..I would have to go back and find old park hours and compare to current ones. But, somehow those people have to be paid...in the shops, in the restaurants, at the attractions. If we had paid the $12 to enjoy extra time in the parks, then I guess we know how the CMs are getting paid. Now.....I'm actually paying for something I don't use, but you do...in my room costs or park pass cost or in my meal costs. But it has to be paid somehow.

I've only tried EMH last year.....the time before that we were off site.....and I have to say I really didnt' have any complaints. I think I remember one park being very crowded, but to me it was still worth it I got to spend extra time in the parks and ride a couple more rides. Especially the morning ones, if I'd already rode a few rides, I didn't normally go back and ride them again so it freed up more time for rides I had not been on, shopping, and dining

I have never done either EMH or Eride but this trip we have planned 2 Evening EMH. I am a little concerend about the crowd levels even if it is late Sept. We are not taking the kids so staying up late will not be a problem. I will let you know how things work out.

E-Ticket nights were not seperated by resorts. You were required to be staying on property to be able to purchase a ticket. The EMH's at night are more crowded because you no longer have to pay for the privilege so many more resort guests opt to participate. If you are able to stay for the entire time the crowds do tend to thin out the later it gets especially at the non-peak times of year.

I agree. We use the evening EMH's. We don't go with the belief that the parks will be less crowded - although that's nice when it happens. We do evening EMH's because we like to lounge at the pool during the day.

We usually go right before or after dinner when it's much cooler. We are so "fresh" when we get to the parks when everyone else seems to be "dragging". Whether it's less crowded - sometimes yes, sometimes no, but it's much more pleasant for us going later in the day & into the evening.

I love EMH - especially in the evening!

3 weeks ago EMH's at night were a joke. Too many people know about it and plan for it. Even GMR was 40 minutes at midnight. The old way was much better-or build another park or 2.

We haven't had one bad experience with EMH. Not one. In fact, one of my most magical memories is from our summer 2005 trip when we did EMH evenings at MK. We closed the place down. Had a blast - got to do everything we wanted to do with very little wait. Especially as the night wore on. Love AK EMH evenings. AK is a cool place at night, I guess because it closes so early you don't typically see it in the dark.

I do think they could open up more food vendors.

We don't always go to morning EMH, but when we have, we've enjoyed it. I like getting in early if I so choose even if we don't do a lot of attractions. Love going to Epcot EMH mornings because you can go ahead and get on Soarin and Test Track before it gets too crazy.

Thank goodness we've never had a problem with getting bracelets. No problem with anything having to do with EMH.

My experience has been largely the same. It's funny to hear people complain about the crowds from a few weeks ago; of COURSE it's crowded, it's summer!

It all depends on what you go in expecting. If you expect no-lines, then you will be disapointed. EMH is not a "jump the lines night", it's a bonus allowing us to spend additional time in the park after closing.

For me, it's just fun BEING in the dark at an EMH. I really only travel in the off-season so it's a real treat.

I also think a lot of people forget all their touring-sense when doing an EMH; just because it's only resort guests doesn't mean if rides are your priority you don't need a plan.

Morning EMH is delightful, as most people don't show up until hours later. It's the most curious phenomenon, but it makes perfect sense; the biggest crowds enter an EMH AM park between 10AM and 11AM, becuase they scheduled that day for the MK and anticipated getting up early but didn't. So they go anyway. By the time they arrive I'm at the other end of the park, and then I'm outta dodge by lunchtime. I've seen almost a full day of attractions too.

I think some people just won't be satisfied until Disney can make a line just for them and their family...will that make them feel "special" enough? LOL.
