EMH vs no EMH/Spring break vs Summer

So I'm really having some second thoughts about our current Summer (July 12th) trip.

Can anyone share any tips or thoughts on Summer vs. Spring Break and whether it's more or less (or the same) enjoyable?

We have always gone over Easter but want to give Summer a try because we will have more time and it's much cheaper for us.

We are planning on staying off-site and I'm really starting to regret that decision mostly because we will no long have EMH. Our mornings of EMH over Easter were so nice and cool. I'm thinking they might be an even bigger benefit in Summer when it's so hot.

For anyone that can compare Summer with and without EMH, does it make a huge difference? I've been hoping the lower crowds on non-EMH days might make up for the fact we don't have them.

Summer is less busy than it used to be! Other than the heat it should be pretty fun!

I vote both. We are going for Spring Break and pretty close to booking July. We have been doing August the last couple of summers, but not July for many years. Just go with a plan, anytime at Disney is a good time.

I just caught the price part, I’d keep July.

We have wondered the same thing. Our issue though is that we are from Canada and we have very long and very cold winters, so going during Spring Break allows for us to get a break from the winter and come back when things are starting to not be as cold and miserable. Going in the summer in Florida would likely zap all our energy as we are not used the humidity anymore living in a drier climate for the last 15 years. However, cheaper and less busy sounds really nice. So I have to give this more thought. We also want to go for 2 weeks so going in the summer means we'd not have to take the kids out of school at all, in fact if we went next summer my daughter would be finished high school so that might be a nice treat.
We are also looking at renting a condo - as for 2 weeks we'd go nuts staying in a regular sized hotel room and simply do not want to pay for a suite onsite. But my understanding is that between three 4 parks only 1 park has EMH each day correct? Does that make it less valuable than say Disneyland where you only have 3 hotels vs. 30 hotels headed to 1 park a day for EMH?

We were there the same week in July last year. We only went to one EMH (MK at night). Park hours were extended about a month prior for DHS and AK IIRC. Crowds were very tolerable.

I'm actually in the exact same boat! Canadian and we had such a terrible winter this year . My husband has said we are going back to spring next year already, lol.

We actually decided after to just book Disney since it makes transportation easier as well.

Yes, usually only one park has EMH, but there's not necessarily one every day. Right now, only MK and EP have a late EMH. That will probably change once SWG opens at HS, but for this summer, I would not expect it to change. Each park then has one morning EMH, so that should mean there's at least one day that doesn't have one at all.

My advice to those staying offsite is to avoid a park when it has EMH. It's always worked for us.

I have zero heat tolerance and yes, summer is HOT and more humid but I’ve been there in the spring and have been just as miserable as my last trip in July. Unless you are comparing dec/Jan against summer, I wouldn’t make a change based solely on weather.

I can't imaging going to the park that has EMH in the morning if you didn't have it - especially considering Disney World has like dozens of onsite hotels compared to the 3 at Disneyland! Being able to have 3 other parks to choose from is AWESOME is one is staying off site so I am quite happy about that.
