EMH vs MM

Last time we went to DCA, we thought EMH and MM were the same thing and showed up for DCA for early entry with our 3-day park hopper passes.

Fortunately, the person at the turnstile let us in after commenting that technically we weren't eligible (staying off site). There were 3 of us.

Has anyone had the opposite experience? Anyone confident enough in friendliness at the turnstile to do this on purpose?

I hope no one does this on purpose.

I’m sure some people do. I have nothing friendly to say to them.

I have seen plenty of people turned away at DCA, so at least some of the CMs there keep EMH as intended.

No.

When it’s emh at dca, go early to DL and revel in the crowds being at the other park.

When it’s emh at DL, go to dca.

Don’t try to get what you’re not eligible for (nothing technical about it).

2014 the volume in the parks was far different than it is now.

Last year I took a couple of my grandkids to DLR, budget had us at the Tropicana this trip.
Our plan was to go to DCA on an EE morning. I knew we did not qualify for EE. However, I figured we'd get there right at general public opening time.
I do not wear a watch or pay attention to time on my phone. Well we arrive early. Not realizing the time, we tried to go through DCA's gates but were turned away. And rightly so. I had no problem waiting for our entry time.

Staying on-site comes at a GREAT expense. We stay on-site 50% of our trips and look forward to the EE time in DCA since it's exclusive.

I'm sure DCA gate CM's have a daily challenge with guests not realizing the difference.

Many people do not know the difference, but honestly I don't think anyone on this board is going to encourage intentionally trying to fool the CMs to let you in by pretending you do not know the difference.

I have seen people turned away at DCA. OP got lucky. I think the park tickets spell out Magic Morning is for DL only.

:wizard:

We were admitted to DL on 12/29 during MM completely by accident. The CM let us in at 7:10 am and didn't even check to see whether we were eligible (which was odd, as he checked the room keys of every person in the party ahead of us). In fact, he apologized to us for his thoroughness with them. We did not attempt to ride anything, but I did get our MaxPass as soon as we were scanned in, and then we went to the rope by Adventureland. We were first in line for Indy, which, miraculously, opened on time.

Ok what is the difference between the two?? Sorry to hijack the thread lol. I have one one them through AAA and I’m staying off site but now I’m a little confused.

Magic Morning MM - is what you get with a 3 day or longer ticket - you can use it once and only at Disneyland.

Extra Magic Hour EMH - is included in an onsite hotel stay package - you can use this every day at one of the parks (DL is Sat, Tues and Thurs and all other days are DCA). You need your hotel key and a valid ticket/pass to use this.

It's a big difference as staying onsite is very expensive.
