Curious as to everyone's experiences with EMH. We used to love E-nights at the MK. We saved all of those attractions for E-night and basically walked on the rides. DH and DS tried the EMH at the MK this past MLK Birthday weekend in Janaury and they complained the lines were very long. I chalked it up to a busy holiday weekend. But now I've been reading posts where people are avoiding the EMH parks. I'm in the process of planning our schedule and ADRs for our August trip and trying to determine if I should work EMH in our schedule our out of it. I would love to hear everyone's expiences.
Thanks!

We tried to avoid them on our trip. We particularly tried to hit a park the day before its morning emh or the day after its evening emh and it worked out gr8. Crowds were light comparitively. They added emh to a park on a day we were scheduled to go there after we got down and it ended up a very crowded day.

I think those that do not get park hoppers will go to that particular park all day, increasing the crowds. Those that get them will hop over after the park they went to is closed and the emh itself will be crowded.

I am sure it depends on when you go, but last summer we found them to be very crowded, much more so than E-Ride nights.

I think during the summer it was a case since it not cost extra that "all" the resorts guests were using them. As stated I think those with hoppers are going to other parks during the regular hours and packing the EMH park.

We did not get much done at all and we were there in August.

We find them to be a waste of time during the summer months. :confused3

Never again for MK! Loved e-nights, but, like Sammie said, it was just too busy and crowded when DSis and I went last August. UGH!

We were there Jan. 21-28. We did the Sunday EMH night at MK. It was very crowded. The line for Dumbo was over 30 minutes. We only stayed for an hour or so. We also did the Thursday EMH morning. We arrived at the 8:00 AM opening. We felt like we had the park to ourselves. We walked on to every ride with no wait. We are morning people, so this worked out great for us.

absolutly hated the late emh's. they were IMHO a complete waste of time. this past july the emh nights were so crowded that i couldnt wait to leave. if my brother was staying at WDW as long as we were we would have left so much sooner. was such a dissapointment over the old e-ride nights.

in fact in an earlier thread i started back in the beginng stages of the emh nights i voiced my opininon as to how i felt that these nights would be crowded and fairly difficult navigate. even thought the emh nights were in its early stages i felt very strongly about it.well my fears were not unfounded. we did an MGM emh night which was ok beause i feel that most of the crowds were at Epcot and MK for the july 4th fireworks but the emh at MK was a horror. i felt that on a peak time the emh nights would be just this and i was correct. i even had a moderator tell me he couldnt understand why i would want to pay for something that i could get for free. yes, he was correct in his statement and i respect his opinion but i would have gladly been crazy enough to pay for the e-ride nights but the cost would have been well worth it to me. in the 4 hours we were there on the emh night, not counting the time to watch spectro and wishes we only managed to go on SM once, IASW once, BuZZ once and BTMRR once only because we had pastpases for it. POTC twice. on e-ride night we would have done that plus SplM ,PP and HM before the first hour and a half were up.

i tried to get people to write to WDW and express their opinions on this subject and i did get many positive responses to my thread. i did manage to get approx 55 replies to my thread. the moderator pointed out to me that the amount of people who replied to my thread really were in the minority because not enough people here at the Dis really didnt reply. he again was correct in his statement but realisticly how many threads do you see getting over 40 replies that dont have to do with wheelchair riding line cutting smoking brazilian teens who wear white shorts on Kali RR while the children who are using the bushes next to bathrooms as bathrooms while their parents are complaining loudly about the cost of food and the taste of WDW water and the behavior of rude guests. this sentence is not meant to offend the Op's of these types of threads but to point out that most long threads usually have do do with touchy subjects or games.

strangely enough i can see why WDW did do this. the parks were so crowded and the lines so long that the only other thing to do is to shop and eat. on that fateful july emh night the lines for the food carts in frontierland were 15-20 deep. the gift shops were also packed. so from a WDW standpoint the emh's are a success and are here to stay.

since i feel i can safely say the MK is the primo WDW park why not have e-ride nights in addition to emh's. this way you could satisfy guests like myself, family of 4, and others who may agree with me.

here is the link for that thread if anyone is interested. some of what i posted here appears almost word for word in this thread.

i know staffing an e-ride night along with the emh park can be a personell problem but now after experiencing both e-ride and emh nights i feel even more strongly about bringing back e-ride nights.

i can safely say i will never go to an emh night park ever again. e-ride nights i would happily go to every night that would be available during my stay

especially for those of us who were "spoiled" by e-nights. Way too crowded especially for the evening EMH's.....

Perhaps the only EMH night worth attending was the recent one on Sun 2/5. Since the Superbowl was on, the park was very empty. I was able to do everything I wanted, and CMS even asked me to ride again, especially at Splash and Aladdin's Flying Carpets!

Loved e-nights. EMH was a waste of time.

we always do the evening EMH's, they are great and free so I can't complain. Yeah they are usually crowded a little at the beginning b/c day guests are leaving but the last hour/ hour and a half we have found to be dead- everything a walk on.

wish they would bring back e-nights would gladly pay the extra for the less people in there. Bring back the E-nights get rid of emh :Pinkbounc

Our family hates the new evening EMH! We used to look forward to enights and felt the extra cost was well worth it since we were able to enjoy the park with much smaller crowds. Some of our fondest memories are of the quiet time spent riding the attractions at the back of the park without all the pushing and shoving that occurred during the day time. We never had long waits during enights! In contrast, the free EMH resulted in huge crowds everytime we have tried them (we have to go in the summmer since I teach and dd is in college). What a difference! I think the need to pay a little extra kept the crowds down in the past. We would gladly pay again to experience the special times we used to enjoy before the introduction of EMH.

The EMH periods are destined to be a crowded mess and a nightmare....unfortunately it is really a simple equation of economics and numbers, think about it.
There are approximately 35,000 rooms at WDW......figure a minimum of (2) guests per room, and consider they average around 70% occupancy.
So you have 49,000 guests on site ready to take advantage of these "FREE EXTRA MAGIC HOURS". Now if we dial that down a little and figure only 70% of those folks are going to attend that magic hour THATS 35,000 PEOPLE AT EMH :scared1: HUGE CROWDS+FREE DEAL= ENORMOUS CROWDS

It worked much better (for us) when they were charging folks an extra 12 bucks on E ticket nights and guests struggled with the dilemma of having to pay more extra money to WDW when they had already shelled out big bucks for the park pass for the day.
For most people it was really more of an objection to the principal than the actual money....therefore a recipe for success for us Disney fanatics.
HUGE CROWDS+PAY EXTRA =SMALLER CROWDS.

I have to agree with the previous poster, tomerin when stated that this arrangement works better for WDW because they are guaranteed better returns from the food, and merchandise purchases generated from larger crowds in the parks.
Sorry everyone but this makes good business sense for WDW because most guests really believe this is a better deal for them than Enights.
