Hi, who would have known that planning a wonderful trip for your family could be so overwhelming! :confused3 I have read so many different views on EMH that I need some advise from you disers out there. :thumbsup2
First, we are naturally morning people and I am thinking that taking advantage of morning EMH would be good for us. But then I read on a couple post that some people say it's better to avoid the parks having EMH that day. Being the morning people we are I really can't see us utilizing alot of evening EMH (except maybe after wishes at MK). Anyway, could someone please offer advise on EMH. The cast is Me, DD14, DS12, DD8, DS3 :grouphug: heading to WDW 08/19/07-0826/07! Thanks in advance for any help!

DH and I never do EMH.....it's always way too crowded and not enough rides open!

How funny. We go and use them every trip. Maybe it's the time of year that we go, but I've never found it overly crowded and it does allow you to get a jump on the crowds. I will get fastpasses for later on and walk right into the rides. I'm a morning person also and it works out so well for my family!

I personally like EMH. My DS10 and I enjoy ourselves quite a bit, while DH and DD2 go back to the room for the night. There are not a lot of rides open, but as far as crowds, I have never encountered much of a problem. Sometimes during the day we will skip certain rides because we'll just go during EMH and ride them. For example at MK they are open from 10-1. We might just hang around for a bit and do the major ones later on in the evening. It is quite a late night, but DS naps during a break because he looks forward to it so much. Plus, its not so hot either.

If you are morning people and have the hopper option EMH mornings are great. Go early, when it gets busy, go have lunch, take a break and hit a different park for the rest of your day!

This is exactly was I was hoping would work for us, I do plan on purchasing park hoppers. :goodvibes Thanks to everyone who replied! :thumbsup2

I know that system works out very well for us, using AM EMH, lunch, then switch. It leaves us so much more flexibility for the day, even though most of our dinner ADRs are for the same park we started in, but after dinner we are free!

That brings up a topic I'm having trouble with. Do we do morning emh lunch then break then switch and maybe do an evening EMH. Or should we do morning EMH (just snack) then break Then switch and have a late lunch ADR or early dinner after we switch. I'm sooooooooooooo confused! :faint:

We always do the morning EMH because it doesn't get crowded until around 11:00, and by then we have had 3 hours to go on the busiest attractions. We do a mix of table service lunch in the parks then a break, and table service dinner after our break. When we return to the parks at night, we go to a non-EMH park. We don't generally do evening EMH because those have been super busy from the start of the evening. Also, DS (10) and I are morning people. DH does OK after a few cups of coffee. :teeth:

It really doesn't matter where you have youir lunch, as long as you have ADRs at the restaurant you intend to go to, or hit CS well before 11:30 during busy times of year. Take your breaks where you feel the greatest need for them. Only you know your family's habits and stamina...plan around that.

By the way, I've always felt that morming EMHs work best at non-holiday times, and lower visitation times, and not nearly so well during the busiest time of year, when hours are extended anyway. But as long as you clear out of the EMH park before the crowds get too heavy, you'll do well at any time of year.

We always do the morning EMH's. Last year, close to Christmas, the evening one at Magic Kingdom was a joke. The lines for Space Mt. and Buzz were out into the open area by the Astro-Orbitors.

so do you like the early entree insted of late? :dance3:

Last year we tried to do both, but we were pooped beyond pooped after a few days. AM EMH always seemed like the least crowded. PM ones were a joke for us as well. The lines were comparable to the busiest during the day, and we were so tired that we were just going through the motions, we left shortly after they even started. But again it all depends on your family. CS meals can be had just about anywhere, the parks or your resort and I think that we had an even mix of both. The only thing set in stone was the ADR's we had made and those were generally later, like 6 or 7 pm.

I happen to prefer the evening hours. For those of you that prefer the morning, why? I am just curious. For us, to get up that early and fed, ready, and on time, seems to be an issue. But I could be swayed into doing it!

We tried an evening EMH--- ONCE---- and that was enough!
Too crowded and long waits.

We did the morning EMH--- and used it everytime!!
Great jump on the day and getting in a good 2 hours before all the late-risers.

We had the Hopper option last year, and since it was our first time, we were too overwhelmed with everything to use it......... NOT next time!!!

We now know how to use it and plan to use AM EMH, then hop.

Who ever got ready first (myself or hubby) would run down and get cereal or light breakfast items for us to eat quickly, then we would eat a light lunch around 11am, and finish with a nice, air-conditioned SIT-DOWN dinner around 4:30pm. The kids were able to go a bit longer in the evening with that early dinner! :yay: :yay:

Since you are morning people, I say go for the EMH. We had such good luck with it even during busy spring break week. We found that it was easy to get to the rides without wait then leave after lunch when the crowds got busy, then we returned after dinner. Good luck and have fun!
