Emh to require magic bands

Don't laugh too hard...Google was awarded a patent for a neck tattoo that functions as a microphone - and apparently a lie detector.

Talked to a CM about this last week - not some random CM but one that we know - so trustworthy source. She said that they are phasing out the KTTW card very soon. Told me that they are switching to MB for EMH - this was before any announcement. There is much concern amongst staff with this because soon ANYONE can have a MB, so it will make it more difficult to weed out the non-compliant folks.

Well, they can't do it just by casual inspection like they could in the old wristband days...but they don't do it by casual inspection now - the CM had to look at the KTTW cards and check the valid dates anyways.

Now they'll have to be equipped with an iPad and scanner and hope the wireless is working.

Well, Shades of Green has EMH access for those of us that stay there and we do not have magic bands or KTTW. We have RFID tickets, but those can be purchased by anyone who qualifies and you don't have to stay on property to get them/use them. So, how will they handle that? We just came back and went to AK first morning and I can't remember what I said, but it prompted the CM to ask where we were staying. I told her SOG and she smiled and waved us in. SOG doesn't get MB yet and they haven't announced how they'll handle it when they do. Ticket purchasing for military is different because you can't just order them and have them sent to you. You have to show ID.

SoG, Swan/Dolphin and the Hilton by DTD will still have to show their room cards, just like they've had to before. I don't believe there are any plans for guests at those resorts to get MagicBands by default.

I'm not sure why giving the CMs iPads for EMH verification would be a sign that EMH is going away. In fact, they could save the expense and just make it go away now if that is the plan.

Touchpoints is what i was meaning. I was thinking if the Ipads are quicker and there are still CMs at the touchpoints, why not give the CMs ipads instead of having them watch the slower touchpoints. But I have talked myself out of that with this: Ipads probably will need to more replacement than the touchpoints will need maitenence.

I was also thinking by using the Ipads if they were to discontinue EMH there is no leftover infrastructure.


Maybe it was a strech, now that i think about it. But I am of the mindset that FP+ is the begginig of the end for EMH, and everything I read leads me to that.

From what I understand, the existing FP+ touchpoints WON'T be used for EMH verification...but I was saying they SHOULD since they are already there at most attractions. It will strictly be with the iPads.

I think this might also be the way the hard ticket parties will go as well, but not this year.

I don't know why the ipads are faster at verifying resort/EMH than the touchpoints are at FP+, offhand, unless they are dealing with different data that can be accessed quicker (and perhaps pre-cached on the iPads? But I think that would be too much data...)

Never used a MB...never will. They need to stop this nonsense. I really don't get it. Technology or "continence" does not make everything better.
