EMH Returning!

Man.. this was the one thing that would make me reconsider staying there, but price wise.. it's $2000 more for our trip to change to a Disney hotel. $2000!!! That's paying $400 a day more for early entry. Do you think it will have a profound effect on genie+ availability at park open?
I highly doubt it based on how the DLR Genie+ works with return times (meaning earliest return vs scheduling a time). Only thing it might do is affect evening times for those Park Hopping - if you are a savvy Genie+ User staying on site and getting up that early, don’t use those LL in the am while things are slow - stack them for the afternoon in your second park. At least, that’s what I would do. ;)

Big question I am sure for many is will ROTR, RSR, Webslingers be operating during the early entry - that would be a BIG plus for staying on site!

EDIT: Also keep in mind this is only 3 hotels we’re talking about, and not everyone staying at them will take advantage of the early entry - if you look at many threads on this board many are not rope droppers.

I'm trying to think if it really impacted maxpass at all and we have never stayed on site so I don't think so. I think you are on the money.. rope dropping those individual lighting lane rides will get harder. One also wonders if EMH is going to rotate days like it used to. DCA used to be certain days and disneyland other days. That might make us look at our days- thought we are going during OBB too..

Honestly I think we all overthink everything, and then it never really goes to plan anyhoo. LOL At least that is how my last 3 trips went! Our fam trip in Dec when we stayed at the GCH we only rope dropped one day, and that was bananas. We meandered in in the morning hours after that first day.

Nice thing about Genie+ at DLR is you actually have to enter the park to use it. If it were like WDW where everyone onsite could book at 7am…. Yeesh.

P.S. OBB is my favourite!!!!!!

I 1000% over think everything to do with my Disney trip and then we get there and poof! It all goes away. You are totally right. I also think our last two trips were to WDW so I need to get that framework outta my head. We are talking about 3 hotels, one of which will possibly be under construction. All of which cost $400-$500 a night. It doesn't have the same impact as the Florida parks where I personally don't even consider off site.

That's good news! But "later this summer" probably doesn't mean late June for my trip, so I'm going to stay off site for this one. But great news for future trips! And it's nice that they are bringing the perks back!

Potrock said the benefits are coming “very soon” on the D23 podcast so I’m hoping that is by end of June as I have a trip then as well.

EMH (in some form*) AND package delivery are BOTH coming back!!! Yippee-Skippee!!!! I'm a happy Disney-girl today!! I'd been mentally thinking of a 2-3 day visit but kept putting it off for various reasons, mainly wanting to stay onsite as usual, but not wanting to pay 'those prices' without the benefits I enjoy the most. As of today those plans will be on hold until benefits come back!

Blog also confirmed the new walkway to DCA from PPH. It was pretty much already a cert based on rumors, but it's good to have it official.

I think that EMH and package delivery coming 'later this summer' would be late July-early August, but it could also be a 'placeholder' and possibly come sooner. The PPH walkway is, of course, dependent on construction, permits etc.

*WDW's EMH is only 30 minutes early. And 'stay late' (1 hr after park close) only if you're at one of the Deluxe-level resorts.

The real question for those of us who can't afford the on-site stay is whether this will be both parks every day all the time, or if there will be designated days for Early Entry at each park as was the case in the past with the exception of the busiest times of year. Pre-covid if I wasn't on site (who am I kidding? I was never on site) I preferred to rope drop the park that didn't have EMH that day so that I could be on a level playing field.

I suspect it will be both parks every day, because Disney seems bent on making the parks miserable if you aren't willing to pay for all the perks. And as Stormy mentioned, WDW is only 30 minutes with extra perks for Deluxe resort guests...One wonders if there will be hotel tiers for us as well. I suspect there will.

Sorry to be so cynical. I'm just starting to feel like Disney doesn't want me there if I'm not willing to drop $10K or more per visit. First world problems, I know.

I've certainly been feeling this too. We love Disney. But the parks become harder to enjoying without "buying in" and we just don't have the budget to continue to drop the $$. Im not angry but just it's a reality. Thus why our fall trip will be our last for a bit.

I think it will only be every other day switching parks. DCA was a deserted wasteland and you could do anything you want when it’s just hotel guests. I don’t think they’ll spend the money on personnel to have rides operating an extra hour in each park for a relatively small number of guests.

In the past wasn't the EMH alternate days for hotel guests?
In the past Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday were MM/EMH at Disneyland Park, and Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday were EMH at DCA most of the year.

In 2018 and 2019 (not sure about before then) the week between Christmas and New Years they had EMH at both parks every day.

That’s one way of looking at it. But the one time we were able to stay on site it helped make the extra money “worth it”. I stayed with a discounted rate during dapper days. I’d now consider doing that again due to EMH for *only hotel guests*. We didn’t bother going to DL, only DCA. It wasn’t worth it as DL was too busy.
