EMH Question

In all my visits I never thought to ask but how does Disney keep EMH to onsite hotel guests only? I have always stayed on site and I dont know that i have ever actually used EMH. I know for the parties you get a wrist band. So how does Disney keep the extra Magic Hours to just onsite guest? I can see for AM EMH they just dont let them in but for PM EMH if they are already in the park how do they go about removing the offsite guests?

For PM EMH they scan bands at each ride entrance to confirm you are staying onsite.

They don't make non-resort guests leave for evening EMH. They're free to shop, dine, or just walk around - they can't get on rides though, because like mom2rtk said, they scan magic bands at ride entrances.

Quick history of EMH.

For evenings:
First you would present your KTTW card at designated site and get a wristband.
Then they went to presenting your KTTW card at the ride entrances.
Now of course it is all in the MagicBands.

For mornings:
First present KTTW card at entrance and go in up to an hour early.
Now same thing with MB.

B. Now same thing with MB.

A. & B. While, yes, guests CAN use MB's, they don't have to. They can request and use regular plastic tickets.
Guests who stay at certain resorts which are on-property, but not owned by Disney, can also participate in EMH.
Since those resorts don't automatically provide MagicBands, those guests (and any other guests who choose to)
can scan their plastic tickets (all WDW tickets now have internal RFID chips) for park entry, EMH and other services.
