We will be in Disneyland next week and will go to EMH. We plan to do all the rides in Fantasyland that are open. How long will this take? After that what should we do? We want to take advantage of the first hour of park opening by going to rides that might have long lines later in the day. We have 3 adults, a 4 yr old who is barely 40in and a baby. What rides should we try to hit & in what order before crowds get busy? What is the best time to go to Toon town?

Also my daughter just hit 40in and is super excited for RSR(we are going to DCA our 2nd day) but I am not sure if I should even bother taking her on any other rides cuz I am afraid she will be too scared. Splash is totally out since it is a one seater. Will Space be too scarey for her? Is BTMR too rough? What about Star Tours? She is only 35lbs & I dont want her to get thrashed around.

Thanks for the help!!!!

My 3-yr old dd was about that size last Nov & she went on a lot of rides :)

On Splash she was in my "lap" since it's not so much a one seater as a log ride. She hated it, but she got soaked and it was November.

Matterhorn & BTMR were "too bumpy" (her words). She loved Pooh Bear, so we rode that 3x while everyone else went in Splash a 2nd time :).

She did fine on Star Tours, loved Nemo, and SM was down. She was fine on Pirates on a prev trip. She also loved Astro Blasters.

In DCA, she was in heaven in Bugs Land & could've gone on Ariel nonstop :). Enjoyed TSMM but hated Goofys.

HTH :)

I just got back from DL vacation last week. We went on a "grownups only" trip but from other experiences, I can suggest a couple of things.

The rides without "continuous loading" fill up fast. That would be the traditional "dark rides" in Fantasy Land as well as Dumbo.

Check those out first.

Some of the shows are worth checking out when your feet need a break. They are well done.

Space Mountain at Disneyland is different from the same ride in Disney World. In Disney World, the ride cars are single file. When I took my 8YO son, he was scared to be behind me instead of next to me. It is pitch black and can be scary.

There are many ways to minimize the "stimulus overload" that can occur at Disney parks. Consider a visit to every little oasis available. Take a raft to Tom Sawyer Island, or It's a Bug's World or whatever to just sit and let kids climb around. Then, grab a snack.

Also, check out the cell phone aps for wait times available. They will help a lot.

During EMH start with Peter pan, then dumbo, Alice in wonderland, mr toad, Casey Jr, storybook canal boats, snow white, Pinocchio, tea cups, carousel, then buzz lightyear astroblasters. These are the child friendly rides. If you think she may be scared of inside rides, you might try dumbo first. Will EMH be on your first day? This will take about an hour. Then if the park isn't open yet, head for the Matterhorn since your DD is not tall enough for this you can single rider it and/or child swap. Whoever isn't riding Matterhorn can go get fastpasses for space mountain or star tours. Then head to nemo. It's a slow loader and the line does get big. From there pick up fast passes as your windows open up. Space, splash, Indy and star tours go first.

Jungle cruise, POTC, haunted mansion, pooh, IASW, tea cups, Pinocchio, snow white, Casey Jr, mark twain, innovations, captain EO, and great moments with mr Lincoln are short lines most of the day.

Best time to go to toon town is when it opens. Usually one hour after park open. Lower crowds and more time with characters. RR was disconnected from the FP system, not sure if it still is.

My DS was 3, just 40", and 34lbs when we went last October. He loved all the thrill rides. His very favorites were splash and TOT! On splash you can sit with her in the back row the seat is bigger. My DS sat infront of me with my arms around him. He was never thrashed around. The hight restrictions definitely err on the side of caution for obvious reasons! Star Tours really is pretty tame. BTMRR is bumpy but still didn't thrash him around. I always had my arm around him to make me feel better lol! Space I would try after doing dark rides and outdoor coasters. A good starter coaster is go go gadget in toon town. Only a 30 second ride. My rule of thumb with my boys is if they think they are ready, then let them try it!

Thanks for the help! Thanks for the info on Splash that I can hold onto her or sit with her in the back. We will try that then!

So after all the FL rides we will do Buzz then Nemo and get FP for Space. How long will these two rides take? Will we have time to do Autopia before heading to Toontown at 9am? How long will toontown take to go through the houses and on the coaster and RogerRabbit?

Thanks again!!

At a good pace, you should be able to do all the FL rides and Buzz AND get in line for Nemo all in that first hour. Nemo's line moves pretty slowly and the ride itself is a long one, so my guess is that you'll be off of Nemo by 8:30AM. Run and get a Space FP by 8:35. The Autopia line shouldn't be long at that point, but the thing is that that early they probably will only be running 1 or 2 tracks, which makes the line move slowly.

Depending on when you get off of Nemo, I don't think you'll have time to do Autopia before 9AM. If you're at Toontown at 9 and you go to Mickey's and Gadget's first and work your way back to Roger Rabbit, you should be able to complete it all within an hour-90 min. :thumbsup2

With regards to Splash, I wouldn't rule it out. It is mostly a dark ride with singing animitronics. The big drop is the only real scary part and even that looks worse than it really is. When my daughter was just big enough to go on it, we just requested the back seat, as it is a bench seat that spans the log, not a seat that you straddle. You can snuggle up right next to each other and also stay a bit drier. It soon became our youngest favorite ride. :)
