We are travelling to Disney the week of September 23rd.

So, my question is... are EMH's usually considered something to avoid? It seems to me that most people on here think they are.

We are trying to decide which parks to go to (in the evenings, we already have morning parks and fast passes planned), when the parks are closing at 8 or 9 each night. The crowd levels that week are approximately 4's. So, lets say MK is having EMH from 9-11, is it better to:

a) avoid MK all together
b) go to epcot so we can catch the monorail to MK when epcot closes
c) just suck it up and go to MK because it isn't going to be that bad.

Epcot and MK both have EMH from 9-11 that week, and I am trying to decide whether or not to switch the nights we go to each park. Thanks for any advice you guys have!

Do you have park hoppers? Based on the information in your post, it sounds like you have park hoppers so I would take advantage of the EMH during the evenings. It is usually avoidable to visit a EMH park if you don't have the hoppers, but you have the flexibility to visit another park during the morning/afternoon. I have visited MK on an evening EMH day and it wasn't that bad. Although crowds did build earlier, we were able to accomplish everything by using rope dropping, FP's for the headliners, and saving the medium attractions (Haunted Mansion, Pirates, etc.) during EMH. Just remember that lines for Space Mountain, 7DMM were still 30-60 minutes during evening EMH so try and FP these rides. We did take a resort break in the afternoon though. Surprisingly for our week, the Wednesday with evening EMH felt less crowded than the Friday with no special events so YMMV.

Epcot is worth it, but MK still has lines and some of the good attractions aren't even open. Splash Mountain closes for EMH now. What a rip.

If you have the hopper option, I would do a different park during the day than the one that has evening EMH. This way you should avoid some of the extra crowds that will be attracted to that park with the EMH during the day from those who aren't using a hopper.
