I know you need to pick up the bracelet ahead of time and everyone needs to be present to show key etc. We will have hoppers and usually hit 2 or more parks a day. If we are at say, EPCOT, and MK is the EMH park that night, does Epcot have the bracelets available for MK, or do we have to get them at MK? Also, is 4p.m. the soonest you can get them? We have not participated in this before, so please bear with me. hOPE i WAS CLEAR...
tia,

Pam

You must get them at the EMH park. There are designated places in each park for that night. Each person must show a resort id and then they are given a bracelet. Generally 4pm is the earliest. But you can pick them up once EMH has started, too.

Only available IN the EMH park that is open that night.

You can get them STARTING at approx. 2 hours before the "regular" closing hours, so unless MK is scheduled to close at 6pm, 4pm is pretty early.
But you are not REQUIRED to get them early.

They are avaliable throughout the EMH evening hours.

Here's how EMH works for all parks.

Look up the POSTED open and close times for any day, any park.
Only WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed EHM privileges and it COSTS NOTHING EXTRA to attend the EMHs.
There are slightly different situations for MORNING and EVENING EMH's.

-------MORNING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a MORNING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed entry to THAT park on THAT day starting ONE HOUR before the posted opening time.
At least ONE person in your party should have a room key-card with them (sometimes EACH person needs to show one) to verify your current hotel status and gain entry.
So, only WDW resort guests will be ALLOWED INTO the park.
Once inside, only selected attractions will be open.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

-------EVENING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time.
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wrist-band.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time. 3AM for a posted 12mid close-time. 3AM, yes sir!)

EACH guest (except for very small children) will need to show a room key-card to a CM at special "EMH kiosks" set up in various locations throughout the park, and a wristband will be snapped on by the CM to each adult and child. Children older than 3 or so will be issued a room key when you check in if they are listed on your ressie. If they are not listed you will have problems if they don't get issued a room key.Children over 3 will be issued a room key when you check in. Make SURE the check-in desk issues each one a room-card.
The ride CMs will check these at each attraction before allowing guests to enter the queue.
So, even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with wrist-bands will be allowed to ride any open EMH attractions.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the parks for EMH EVENINGS anytime... during "regular" hours, or even during the actual extended EMH hours.
This 1-hour morning EMH and 3-hour evening EMH rule applies at all 4 parks. Enjoy!

In March, we arrived at the Magic Kingdom at midnight and rode everything we wanted in about 2 hours with NO line ups! Extra Magic hours are extremely busy at the Studios though, at least 45 min waits for TOT and RNR.

Just as a note our family really enjoys a.m. EMH and finds we can get more done in that hour than the three hours given in the p.m. But if you're not an early morning family that might not be an option for you.

We have found that getting the bracelets can be a real hassle. On two separate trips in two separate parks we were treated rudely by CMs. Our first incident was at MGM. We got in line for the bracelets and were asked to show our room passes. My youngest DD probably 6 at the time did not have her room key . . . I let her have one as a souvenir but we had APs so she had no need to carry/lose this in the parks. I was flabbergasted when the CM suggested she may not even be my child. I said believe me I would not keep anyone's 6 year old out at Disney past midnight but my own! We are DVC and AP holders to which I had both cards. I actually thought this guy was going to make me go back to BWV for the other key card.

Incident #2 was at EPCOT. It was a sweltering day in August. The CMs set up a few minutes early at the bracelet station right at the end of Future World just as you head toward the World Showcase. There were several families waiting and we quickly lined up only to be told that they couldn't do it yet . . . must wait til 7 p.m. You're kidding! The supervisor was going to have the CMs just stand there for 10 minutes. I mean it was infuriating. They finally gave in . . . I suspect they feared a revolt from the heat-weary park goers!

I hope you don't have any of these issues for the EMH bracelets but be prepared and be sure everyone goes to the park with his/her room key.

I do want to say that most of our experience with CMs is very very positive and maybe this is something that they have a lot of people trying to abuse the system.

The CM's skepticism WAS out of line, but in all fairness he would have been within his rights to require that you present a current room key card for EACH member of your party - including the six-year-old. JMO, but having an AP and/or a DVC card doesn't necessarily indicate that the Guest possessing such proof actually even qualifies for EMH.

Actually, that makes sense to me as well. I mean, ALL the CMs are in place inside the parks long before park opening time, but still the parks don't open until the published (or in some cases, EMH) time. It makes much more sense to have the area set up a few minutes in advance, than to expect the setup and staffing to happen 'magically out of nowhere' at exactly 7 PM.

You are right. They could have made me go back. I realize DVC and AP don't qualify . . . you must be a resort guest. But the other members of our party had our room keys just one little kid didn't.

Just to qualify, "setting up" requires a CM walking up with wristbands.

We are staying at the Swan for our Aug. trip - 5 in the room. We will all have room keys.

Now the question: My college son (who is NOT staying with us in the hotel) visits us for the day, enters the MK with his one-day pass. If my DH decides to NOT go to MK for the EMH on that particular night, can my college son use his dad's room key to stay with us for the EMH? :confused3

Do the room keys have pictures on them? I know the park passes have fingerprint technology, but I don't know what the room keys look like or how they work. Please explain. :grouphug:

No pictures on the keys.

(BTW, its not "fingerprint technology", its just a finger/joint measurement system.)

Yes, your son would be able to use his dad's room key-card to get a wrist-band if Dad did not participate in EMH.
