EMH Complaints?

MK used to always be open till at least 11 PM in my previous summer experiences :(
I know same here. I am good at securing the 4th FP in MK so I found EMH to be worthless b/c it stayed packed & there were no fast passes.

Here's a snapshot of the month of June over the years:

June 1-30th 2012 - 426 Included hours + 35 EMH= 461 (Wow, EMH)
June 1-30th 2013 - 431 Included hours + 13 EMH = 444
June 1-30th 2014 - 461 Included hours + 11 EMH = 472
June 1-30th 2015 - 469 Included hours + 12 EMH = 481
June 1-30th 2016 - 425 Included hours + 14 EMH = 439
June 1-30th 2017 - 396 Included hours + 13 EMH = 409

We really felt the lowering of hours overall this past trip. Didn't like it at all. I hope this trend stops.

Only MK and Epcot have evening EMH; it used to be all four parks. They're two hours now, compared to three up until a couple of years ago. And when it comes to the MK, the regular hours tend to be short on EMH nights so instead of the late nights we used to get, it is just a normal length day with the onsite-guest-only restriction in the last two hours.

In Jan 2012, with crowd levels of 1 to 3 according to Touring Plans, evening EMH ran until 1am at the MK. In March 2011, with crowd levels 4 to 6, MK EMH ended at 3am. This year, EMH ended at midnight over 4th of July and 1am over Easter.

ETA: I think the cuts have been more obvious to those of us who like the late hours. There's still 4-5 morning EMH most weeks, and they're the same 1 hour they've always been, but there's less and less for night owls at WDW (pool hours are shorter than they used to be too).
That's exactly it... we are night people for both the parks and the pools. It really has taken some of the fun out of our vacations.

That's sort of my concern. Since it's through the Disney Floral and Gifts, I'm worried it won't actually show up in time for us to use it for the character meal. That AKL zoo sounds amazing!
I would be worried about it getting there in time for your dinner, too. In the FAQ's from Disney Floral and Gifts, it says: "for delivery on your arrival date, since your room is not pre-assigned, the gift will be delivered after your arrival."

So does shortening hours = people staying longer to get everything done?

I hadn't considered that scenario until someone mentioned that they used to get everything done in 7 days and now it takes 9.

Idk what they do that makes it take 9 days but I would say more people are visiting at “off season” times than before. We’ve never been longer than a week and easily get everything done that we want done.

Part of me is considering having it shipped to my house, but then I have to cram it in a carry on.

I was saying I was staying 9 days because I was bringing a small child (normally go with adults that can rush through things). I just feel like there's less park hours than there ever were before.

To this part of your post, yes.

Not only are there less park hours, but lines are ALSO longer due to rides operating at reduced capacity. For example, only opening one track of Space Mtn. from 9-10am every day.

WDW decreases the number of staff they have to pay that hour, so there a big incentive.

A great percent of WDW's customers don't see the difference because they are first timers, infrequent customers, or don't use peripheral hours.

I think more often, it means not getting everything done. Most people don't have the available time to just add days to make up for shorter hours, lower capacity, and longer lines. So they have to pick and choose what they do. But you're right about it only bothering experienced visitors, I think. First timers accept this as normal and chalk it up to WDW being too big to see in a week's vacation, but for those of us who got used to being able to do more on our trips it is upsetting.
