EMH and October...your thoughts

Well this is the first October where we will have EMH in AM and PM and have MNSSHP thrown in the mix. Hours will come out for October in a couple weeks, but I am wondering what you all think.

I have no interest in going to PM EMH at MK ever, but I am curious...do you think that with MNSSHP on Sun., Tues., Thurs., Fri. that there WON'T be PM EMH at MK during this time? Would they double up on AM EMH to make up for it? Or just keep the schedule the same?

I think the current schedule would have PM EMH at MK on Weds. and AM EMH at MK on Fri.

What are your speculations?

My speculation is that they will keep the Wednesday night, Friday morning EMHs. Not everyone wants to pay extra money to go to the MNSSHP (hard to believe I know ;) ). Since EMHs (am & pm) are so heavily advertised as a benefit, I believe there would be some pretty unhappy campers if WDW didn't offer pm EMHs in the month of October. Just my guess. ;) :teeth:

We just got back and MK had Pm EMH on Friday ... we had dinner at Cali Grill at 8 PM, watched wishes from the OD and then went to MK until 2 AM (we actually stayed until almost 3)

I sure hope this is the case. I've been planning to use EMH's pretty extensively, since we need the mid-afternoon breaks in our room. I'd hate to have paid for my onsite room, of which one benefit is EMH's, only to have them drastically reduced by the extra-cost MNSSHP, or cut out altogether.

But one also should look at it from Disney's perspective. Why should they double up on paid CM time to staff 2 parks after hours during MNSSHP nights, when they're getting people to pay for MNSSHP, and get no extra money for offering the other park's EMH the same night?

I'm hoping the fear of really bad publicity will keep them offering as many EMH's during MNSSHP, somewhere at least, as during any other week.

Personally, I am hoping that they just double up on AM EMH at MK somewhere down the line :smooth:

But I don't know how realistic that is...

It is my speculation (and sincere hope!) that they just have the plain EMH schedule in effect. That means MK - PM Wed. & AM Fri. because that's where I plan to be! We will spend the day at MK on Wed. regardless, but if there's no EMH we won't come back after dinner (and will probably try to change the ADR to a later time). Same thing on Friday - we'll spend the morning in MK regardless, whether they open early or at the regular time. We'll have lunch at CRT and see where we are. If we have had enough of MK (well, you never really get ENOUGH, but you know what I mean) we'll hop. Not sure how crowded Epcot will be from F&WF but maybe we'll go there Friday PM. Friday PM is our one day to "wing it". Maybe a little visit to DTD after dinner.

I'll be interested to see if they extend hours at the other parks on MNSSHP nights. It seems like people said they did last year, but when I look at the historical hours I can't really see where it looks like that was true.

From what I could by historical hours, MK would be open until 9 on most nights. However, on MNSSHP nights, they would close at 6, staying open an extra 5 hours (I think) for MNSSHP guests. EMH is only 3 hours, but this way, MK CM's would have a similar work environment for MNSSHP and EMH.

The MNSSHP runs until midnight, so if they normally close at 9 PM then it's the exact same number of hours from a CM standpoint. They are open from 9 AM? - 9 PM with EMH until midnight OR 9 AM? - 6 PM with MNSSHP guests in the park until midnight. Same thing.

Epcot has EMH on Thursday PM under the regular schedule anyway, so there's one park other than MK open later on a MNSSHP night. Not sure about the EMH parks on Sunday, and the week we are there Tuesday is not a party night at MK.

You would THINK some of the profits from MNSSHP would be to offset additional staffing costs/salaries at MK, so they might be willing to keep another park open later. Of course Disney never seems to think the same way I do!

I wouldn't count on the regular schedule. It changes quite a bit in August, and could change even more so in October to accommodate MNSSHP. We really won't know until the October hours are released in early August.

For the first MNSSHP occurence on 9/30, there is no EMH evening scheduled anywhere. That's not promising for October. But we'll see in August.

and park days around the current EMH schedule. I have a CRT lunch PS for Fri, for when MK hopefully is open 1 hr early, a CP lunch PS for Wed (and a Trails End for dinner), for when Mk is hopefully open late. I also have Nine Dragons scheduled for Thurs, hoping that will be Epcot's EMH late night. We will probably do MNSSHP on Tues, missing AK's late night. I think MGM late night will be Sun, so we'll probably do B&C late lunch/early dinner. I'm really stretching here, so by the time the hours do come out, I'll probably just stick with what I have. We could always hop to a different park after a meal if I have the EMH wrong.

Well, I figure as long as I'm not planning to be at MK on a party night that I don't have tickets everything will work out fine. :)

If there are some additional mornings added to parks where we will be anyway then we might try to go early. If they don't have EMH on a night I was planning to stay late we can hop or turn in early or go swim at the resort or something.

I am one of these people who stresses over every other detail but for some reason the park hours just don't really get to me. As long as the parks are OPEN the hours can vary! :rotfl:

I'm thinking they will keep the AM EMH on Friday and the PM EMH on wed. The MNSSHP will dates wouldn't interfer. I guess they could add some like they do in busier times. I would think that would be around Columbus day. I was also trying to guess when they might have spectro. From looking at the schedule last year it looked like mostly Mon and Sat (sometimes 2 on Sat). The MNSSHP isn't every Tues and Thur so I would think they could do something different??
