My Mom wants to eat at Emerils. We'll be at WDW March 10-15 staying at Pop Century without a car. Is it worth it to get a taxi from Pop all the way to Universal just to eat at Emerils? We wouldnt be visiting anything at Universal - we'd only be eating.

I'm not familiar with many of the WDW restaurants, so I do not know what you will be bypassing to get to Emeril's. If you decide to go, I would suggest that you go to Tchoup Chop instead. Perhaps that would satisfy your mom's desire to eat at Emeril's. I have eaten at Tchoup Chop and it gets better reviews on these boards than Emeril's on City Walk. I would highly recommend Tchoup Chop, but I have never been to Emeril's.

If you do make it over for dinner, I recommend you walk around the hotels a bit. It is an easy water taxi ride from one to the other via City Walk, or you could walk off your dinner and stroll from one to the other. You might like what you see.

In a word, YES. The food is great the service is outstanding.

My favorites are:
Study of Duck (duck three wys)
the mashed potatoes
the Banana Cream pie
Salmon pizza on Sourdough with caramelzed onions.

I'd only do it if it would really please your mother. Taxi to and fro will be rather expensive (I'm thinking $30.00 plus each way) - as a matter of fact, if you do go, call a town car service (like www.happylimo.com - you might can get a few dollars off with code OTP1277 - I think it is usually used for airport transfers but they might give you the discount). The town car will cost about the same as a taxi and will be 100% better.

Now about the restaurant. Emerils is great but Disney has a lot of VERY nice restaurants also - all within Disney transportation. The California Grill at The Contemporay resort gets very high marks. I LOVED the Brown Derby at MGM. and of course, Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian is top of the line. You might want to save Emerils for a Universal trip.

I have to agree. Tchoup Tchoup gets the better reviews of the two. I would go there instead.

I also have to put a vote in for Tchoup chop instead. We did not care for Emerils, but that was probably just because of our taste. I thought the environment was stale, white tablecloths, nothing really special about it to us. Also, I thought the menu was better at Tchoup chop, but that was because a lot of the things on Emerils menu we have never had and didn't sound good to us. If your mother wants to go, I would definately say go, just to make her happy if nothing else, but if you have a choice try the Tchoup chop. Its all Emerils.

My mom also wanted to go to Emerils while we were at WDW. I know there are lots of good restaurants at WDW, but when your mom wants to see Emerils, what can you do??? :) We had a car, so it was easier for us. But I would have taken a taxi if we didn't have the car. I wanted to make mom happy.

We went to Tchoup Chop because the food looked better to us. Actually, I don't thnk there was one thing on Emeril's CityWalk restaurant that I would eat. But I am not very adventurous. So, I second the recommendation for Tchoup Chop. The restaurant is really beautiful. We went at lunch and it wasn't very crowded.

So, look at the menus at Emerils Web Site and see which one you think you mom would like better.

Our food was delicious, by the way.

I agree with the recommendation to try Tchoup Chop. I have eaten at both Emeril's and Tchoup Chop and prefer Tchoup Chop. The atmostphere and food were both fantastic. Now, the food at Emeril's was also great, but I enjoyed the atmosphere at Tchoup Chop much better.

If it makes your mother happy, take her - but suggest you go to Tchoup Chop instead.

That sounds just like us. We were scared to try most of the things on the Emerils menu.

Look how happy mom is ...
