Okay, a little panicky. I just booked ADR for Jan. trip (13-19). I booked Fantasmic Dinner package w/ Mama Melrose's. I looked at menus at allears and there is a different menu for package - like no appetizers except for a salad most of my family won't eat. We are on DDP. So should I cancel package and just book a regular ADR? Is reserved seating worth it?
Oh, what to do. We did candlelight package last year at San Angel and were disappointed when we found out menu was limited. Don't want to make that mistake again. :scratchin

Fantasmic package, stinks, see my thread, I am going New YEars Eve, and I am thinking about cancelling mine. Just show up 45 minutes early and you should be ok. Though decision, but probably not worth it in the long run. UNLESS you make the seating REALLY early and actually eat lunch then just get a CS for dinner.

We go every January and Fantasmic isn't normally that busy where you'd have to line up very early unless you want specific seats. We like the back anyway to not get wet and to be able to get out quick.

We had a horrible meal at MM for the FDP last January. Service and food were not good. My son loves Italian food (as do we all) and everyone agreed we never want to go back. We aren't at all picky either--we happily eat Pizzafari pizza ;) The salad that comes with the package was very wilty leaf greens and the cheese (gorgonzola--on many of the FDP menu items) was very strong and salty (we aren't picky and we eat pretty tangy goat cheese happily). The cheese flatbread that I thought the kids would like had lots of this on it so they wouldn't eat it. Bread was heavily coated in sesame seeds so again no go for the kids. Portions were exceptionally small especially the kids pasta. The people who seem happiest with MM seem to be those who are not on the FDP. If you book the FDP even if Fantasmic is cancelled you still have to go or pay the cancellation fee (48 hours notice I think) which also bothered me for such a bad meal.

I think with the time of year you are going, you should not have trouble getting a seat at Fantasmic (without the package) if you arrive about 45 minutes prior. I thought about doing MM Fantasmic Package, but since there were no appetizers I'd eat and not much on the main dish area either, I decided to do a 5pm seating at the 50's Primetime Cafe, then will head over to Fantasmic around 6pm for a 7pm show. This way I can dine and get a seat where I want to, rather than dining somewhere I would barely eat at.

The 'reserved' seats aren't all that good in my opinion. We've done the package (at H&V) and when we saw where the reserved seats were we moved to be with the non-package peeps. They had MUCH better seats. In Jan. you shouldn't have any problems as long as you arrive a little early.

As far as the MM menu. We did the Backstage Magic tour in May and our lunch was at MM. WOW! What a great feast they put on for us. Everything was served family style and included salad, 2 different flatbread pizzas, and 3 different entrees. Dessert was 4 different things. It was sooooo good we're making a return visit in Jan. so we can linger over the items we really liked.

We decided to cancel package. We booked ADRs for 5:00 at 50s. We should have enough time to make Fantasmic show at 7:00, and get good seats right?
