This is the craziest story I've ever read. Hollywood movie material. I wonder if this guy was poisoned, or is off in Mexico somewhere. I guess it's possible that he died of natural of causes, but when you read his history and the fact that he was allowed to move his cruise from Nov to Sept before his passport expired because he was being indided of tax fraud. Oh and the five homicides he was linked to including his wife, and the insurance money he received from all the homicides that were deemed contract killings ... something seems fishy. Thanks for posting this great article...very entertaining. I love these kind of stories.

I was on this ship last week. It was a very quick drop off so if you missed the announcement I can understand why some did not even know that it happened. While at one of the bars later in the evening, I overheard another passenger ask the bartender about the situation and of course he responded that he was not allowed to speak about it.

Speaking about never making the news, except for people who lived in his hometown, would you ever have known a kid was orphaned while on the Fantasy this past June?

I was on this cruise and the Bright Star was called around 12:30am. His room was 2 doors down from mine, and directly next door to my sisters room. So many people came so quickly that all we heard was running "thuds" of crew members heading to his room. Since there was so much going on in the hall my sister and I decided it was a great time to deliver FE gifts. We ran out of our rooms quickly and headed to the forward elevators (away from his room) and there were so many people around. When we came back about an hour later there was still a large presence in the hallway including a few officers. We then heard the rumors that he had passed and his son was orphaned. Never knew it to be confirmed until I saw this link. Such a sad situation. We had seen them quite a few times around the ship on our first day at sea and the son seemed so happy to be there with his dad.

Same cruise- as we were leaving Cozumel, literally 100 yards from the dock, we had to turn back and offload a passenger. We were there quite some time and ended up arriving about an hour late to Grand Cayman the next day.

We were on this same cruise too. So very sad about the little boy and his Dad. I remember the repeated Bright Star announcements in the middle of the night. We also watched them offload the person at Cozumel. So sad and scary.

We were on this cruise. We had asked one of the concierge people in case it affected our pat to st. Maarten since we only heard the tail end of the message. She had said it was a quick drop off of a crew member who was in a bad way.

Was this the Fantasy last November? If so, we were on the same cruise. Stopped twice at Grand Turk - once on the way down and once on the way back.

No, our cruise on the Fantasy was in December, 2013. Like I said though, this stuff happens a lot.
