Won't they also need a credit card for payment? Or is the ridiculously high rate just billed to the caller's phone automatically?1-888-322-8732... They will need your name, ship, and stateroom number so share those details with them as well as the phone number
EDIT: I forgot you're in Canada so you need this number 1 732-335-3281
Don't know, never had to use it. I just keep it handy to give my kids when we cruise for the sea days, I get cell service whenever we dock.. I've never seen any mention of a CC being needed.Won't they also need a credit card for payment? Or is the ridiculously high rate just billed to the caller's phone automatically?

That's what I tell people, too. If there's nothing I can do about it, I don't want to know until I get back.I know every family is different, but my family is basically of the mind that there's nothing to be done at the point a call about an emergency would be made - and none of us expect others to jump off at the next port and spend major bucks to fly home. So for us, notice will wait until we're off the ship. But we're clearly in the minority on that.
Well, it's a 13 night cruise, if someone dies, like your parents, siblings, kids, grand kids, I would like to know. At the beginning of this route, you might have a chance to disembark, fly home, attend the funeral and support the people left behind. Otherwise they are buried, and ceremonies are held before you get home. That's what I tell people, too. If there's nothing I can do about it, I don't want to know until I get back.
I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with giving the number or wanting to be alerted to emergencies. I was just agreeing with the other poster.Well, it's a 13 night cruise, if someone dies, like your parents, siblings, kids, grand kids, I would like to know. If there is a case of bad weather, a flood, a fire and your house is destroyed... yeah, not much you can do about that, and if you would go back you have to go to a hotel anyway. So, less need to go back immediately.

Interesting, here (in the Netherlands) it is mandatory by law to be buried/cremated between 36 hours and 6 working days. Not necessarily here. Since COVID many families are doing memorial services and such a few weeks after the fact. Many do private family burials or interments at a time not connected with the memorial service. Unless your religion demands instant burial, more and more there is a lag to allow everyone time to get there - even if it's a few weeks later.
