Does an outside party need to have a credit card to contact you on the ship?

My elderly parents do not have a credit card and I"m concerned about how they can contact me if one of them gets ill.

Thanks
Kathy

Yes, calling the ship requires a credit card. It's something like $8 a minute to call the ship.

Do your parents have access to email?

Or maybe have a land-based contact your parents can call, who can turn around and email you on behalf of your parents.

You can then have an Internet Cafe account onboard & check email periodically.

I have a question about this too. Is there a number that someone stateside can call, to the ship, if they need to contact a passenger.

We're sailing in a month and my mom has some health issues. I want to be sure that my parents or my sister can contact me in case of an emergency.

People can call 888-DC-AT-SEA. It is $6.95/min and they MUST have a credit card to bill the call. You can call from your stateroom for the same charge and it is billed to your KTTW card/account.

If one of your parents gets ill, is there another family member with a credit card that could contact you? Or a neighbor? I assume that you are talking about not keeping in regular contact, just an emergency, in which case you may not mind paying the $7 per minute fee. Your parents could use a debit/check card if they have that.

Or do you have an "extra" credit card of yours that you could lend them to use in an emergency? chances are they wouldn't have to use it but it might make you all feel better.

I had thought about leaving a credit card for them. I'm an only child and we have no family local. So that is probably what I'll do.

Thanks so much for the responses.

Kathy
